I have a strict criteria when it comes to town layouts. It must have...
A horizontal river
A larger north
A slightly smaller south
The sea in the east
Town hall, retail in the south
Plaza in the center, south
Only 1-2 ponds
Apples as fruit
I AM SO PICKY AND I CAN'T HELP IT SO I'VE BEEN HERE RESETTING FIVE MILLION TIMES NYAHAHA.
Anyhow, what do you like in a town layout? (I'm sure this has been asked before but ohwell)
I like it to be extremely roomy for landscaping. The 2 narrow strips at the top.. with 1-2 ponds. If the native fruit is pears it's a no no. Plaza has to have room all around it, and I don't want it near the tracks.. Town hall is preferred on the right side, with retail under it.
Re -tail and the town hall have to be either vertically or horizontally parallel. They also have to be on the upper half of town, near the train station, either both on one side of the gate close to eachother, or on opposite sides, an equal distance from the gate. If they are on the same side, the re-tail pond has to be in between them.
Town hall needs a dark blue roof and the train station needs a green or orange one. I hate ponds so I only want one.
River has to be horizontal and straight for at least 3/4 of it. House goes in the section that isn't straight (preferably surrounded on two sides by river and cliff on one side, but I gueeeeess I can live with it being surrounded by the river on three sides, but only if it's in the center of the map. Also, the river had to divide the town so 2/3 of the town is above it and 1/3 of the town is below it.
Beach has to be on the right and bottom sides of the map. I hate private beaches unless they are extremely large.
I prefer bad villagers so I can plot reset so the good ones are in good places. Obviously I won't reset if the villagers are good though.
Rocks can not interfere with straight paths of land where I want to put streets of villagers.
I looove triangle grass, but I guess square grass is okay. Circle grass is ugly ewwww.
I hate orange, peach and apple trees. Unfortunately my town has oranges, but it's awesome enough to not reset. Oh well, I don't like perfect fruit that much so I'll just use imperfect foreign fruit.
Town tree goes on the side of the gate that retail and the town hall aren't on. If they're on opposite sides, it can go somewhere on the bottom half I guess.
My map had to have:
Waterfall facing the south
One pond
Re-tail near the train station
Ocean to the east
I would have preferred to have apples as my native fruit (I have oranges) and circle grass (I have triangle), but my map had 3 of my favorite villagers as starters (Kabuki, Axel, and Stitches), so I kept it
I'm the least picky person in the world when it comes to maps. All I wanted was any fruit other than pears, and a workable number of ponds. So I was pretty thrilled that my town has only 2 (or 3?) ponds, and apples. Even the abundance of rocks doesn't bother me.
I am a person who likes to fish and likes balance. My town must have...
1)a long stretch of beach
2)long river
3)2-3 ponds
4)balanced parts of north and south land
I might buy another one. The sad thing is I want my own river layout again but reversed so the beach is on the opposite side. And only 1 pond, Cherries as fruit, and not the red or brown train station.
