Beau or Erik and help with other decisions

I haven't started my second island quite yet, but I want to kind of plan it out beforehand. Originally my main island was going to have a natural villager theme, but it's just not working out that way. I'm meeting some interesting, fun colored villagers and I don't want to pass them up. So my main island has become a very relaxed theme-less place with about half permanent villagers and half moving in and out so I get to experience more villagers I like.

So I decided that my second island will be my natural forest theme, with a bit of a witchy vibe. I was hoping I could get some opinions on my villager choices and possible help choosing. Here's who I'm thinking:

1. Teddy (Jock)
2. Reneigh (Uchi/Sisterly)

3. Erik or Beau (Lazy)
4. Kiki (Normal)
5. Bianca (Peppy)

6. Marshal (Smug)

7. Whitney (Snooty)
8. Wolfgang or Gonzo (Cranky)

9. Molly (Normal)
10. Ruby (Peppy)

I'm having a really hard time choosing between Erik and Beau since I like them both a lot. I think technically Erik might fit the theme better since Beau is an antelope?

And between Wolfgang and Gonzo...Wolfgang is my number one favorite villager, but he would be the second wolf. Also, I've had him in every single AC game, so it would be nice to give someone else a try. Obviously it's the wrong setting for a koala irl, but does it really matter that much in a game? And since villagers behave like humans in AC, it's not that far fetched to believe that Gonzo would have moved there from Australia, lol. Plus I'm engaged to a Cranky Aussie irl, so I find humor in that lmao. So who do you think I should choose?

Also, I know Kiki might not technically fit, but she's going to be kind of like a witches familiar and live close to my character. Reneigh will probably live closer to the shops and RS, and have a country vibe to her yard.

The first set of villagers works great for your theme! Both Erik and Beau work, but Erik fits into the snowy vibe going on with Bianca and Whitney. (They both have the nature interest, by the way.) Kiki fits a natural theme for sure! I like Gonzo for your cranky. Both for species diversity, and because Wolfgang’s blue fur doesn’t fit in as well.

I really like the set of villagers that were chosen, I would pick Erik because he is more on the nature side for me.

They are nearly identical: species, voice, nature hobby, exterior house.

Erik of you want a more winter feel.

Beau if you want a mountain/forest feel.

Great choices of Villagers. I think Erik would suit your theme best and I would go with Gonzo over Wolfgang just because you already have 1 wolf in your lineup + you had him in your other games. I think having a little old man koala coming to your island to retire from Australia sounds like a good story line haha. And everyone in your island will consider him their grandpa

Thanks for your input! I was just thinking that because Kiki is more of a domestic house cat that she might not seem to fit in the forest, but because of the slight witchy theme I think she'll be perfect!

Since Beau and Erik both have the nature intrest I suppose they probably both have the same chance to sing. Tbh I was leaning towards Erik until I saw Beau signing, but I probably shouldn't let that factor in.

Now that I think about it...idk why, but I have always considered Wolfgang to be a natural colored villager...blue yes, but my mind thought of him more as "blue" like the coloring of some dogs, blue french bulldogs, pitbulls, etc. But he's actually a pretty unnatural blue... don't know why I never thought of him like that before. I think it might be time to give Gonzo a turn.

Thanks, I was leaning towards him at first. They're both so cute, it's so hard to choose. I see Erik less often, so I kind of like that.. but I like Beau's interior more. Decisions, decisions... lol

I've never seen Erik singing. His house is pretty stupid, compared to his New Leaf house. I'd still rather him than Beau, but he's not a favorite like he was last game.

Ok, the Gonzo thing is seriously adorable. I'm pretty much sold on him now, even though it'll be hard to let Wolfgang go.

The jury is still out on Beau vs Erik, I'm so torn. I guess I can't go wrong with either though.

Pros for Beau:
-Better interior
-Caught him singing (so cute)
- I've never had him before (had Erik briefly in NL before NH came out)

Pros for Erik:
-Fits the theme better
-Seems less popular
-I have his amiibo
-He was my first instinct of which lazy to get.

Personally I think Erik fits better if you want to be as “thematic” as possible. If you don’t mind spending time hunting for him, you could always try to get him as your starter Lazy—that way he comes with the default log cabin interior, which matches your town and his original house from NL perfectly. The chances of getting him aren’t bad if you already have the Normal and Peppy invited.

Also, my vote is for Gonzo. I agree with people saying he’s more natural than Wolfgang, and don’t think him being Australian detracts one bit. Koalas are still woodland animals after all.

I can just add that I’ve had Beau for over a month and have never once seen him sing. Your odds of either of them singing is equally likely—or unlikely, really.

Maybe leave it up to a flip of the coin... i.e. if you're hunting via the campsite or nook miles or even happen upon a good deal for trading, just pick whoever shows up first! Then there's an element of surprise and you can always eventually swap them out if you change your mind.

I would have Beau personally, but that's just me being biased lol, but theme wise, I do really think Erik fits in better with what you're going for, and I do agree that giving Gonzo a chance would be great as you had Wolfgang in other AC titles anyways, you could just always bring Wolfgang back if you didn't jive that much with Gonzo...

Personally, I would go for Erik, as I would also say that he fits better to your theme. I have him on my island and he became one of my favorite Lazy villagers. Besides, his design is just adorable.

Erik over Beau. Both are fine, but Erik is cuter. I think you should just puck whoever you find first. Also, I would much prefer Wolfgang over Gonzo, but again, go with whoever you see first. Villager Recommendation: Maple.

After seeing the photos again, I would go with Erik and Gonzo, but if Wolfgang really speaks to you go with him. After all, it is YOUR island.

This is such a tough decision and I've gone through it both in NL and in NH. In the end I settled on having them both LOL but if that's not an option I would probably go for Erik? If you end up getting Whitney and Bianca you could do a little snowy mountain area with them :3

I plan on having them both because each one of my 4 deers represents a season, and Beau and Erik are perfect for summer and winter respectively <3

In my opinion, I would go with Gonzo and Beau. You seem to really like Gonzo, and the fact that your fiancé is a cranky aussie just makes it even more special. Beau feels like a better fit to me.
