I transplanted five bamboo plants from a nook miles island, but they're not making shoots. It's been about a week. Do they need to be planted in a certain area to propagate? I left plenty of room for them because I wanted a grove.

They only make shoots if they grow from shoots themselves. And it's only 1 per bamboo.

Oof! I was wondering why after the plague that they were in New Leaf, why mine I had uprooted from a mystery island hadn't dropped a thousand shoots yet.

When you say only 1 shoot per bamboo, is that in total of their lifespan or that they just plant 1 shoot at a time?

Lifespan sadly. I was ok with it at first, but then someone mentioned that they should give a shoot like once per week or something and I agreed. But I'm also not too upset about it considering how common they are on mystery islands, and if you keep growing them you'll keep getting shoots.

Baah :c That's a disappointment. Thank you for the clarification though! Now I realize I shouldn't have given my husband ALL of the bamboo shoots I dug up from the island, double oof!! D;

Unless you plan on having bamboo all over the place as part of your island's design, you can get more than enough bamboo from one island run. Just make sure to have a full stomach before island hopping. I'm happy we don't have to deal with bamboo shoot spam like in NL.
