Luckily, everyone I've traded with so far have been wonderful. But I always have a fear that one of these days, I'll run out of luck. Have any of you guys had bad experiences trading with people? Doesn't have to be here, just any amiibo card trade you've done by mail (remember, no names please!). If so, how did you deal with it? Tell me your stories!

I did a lot of card trading before the update, on here and on the Reddit subforum, and I had an almost perfect experience. I was only scammed once out of 50+ trades. I have a new user on Reddit the benefit of the doubt, and he disappeared on me without ever sending his card. Which was really frustrating since I was really close to being done - I ended up just buying the card on eBay.

Oh no :( Hopefully it wasn't a big trade. I always have a policy of not trading with new users unless they agree to send their cards first. I'm assuming you've completed your entire collection? If so, then congratulations! It must feel so good to look at them all ^_^

No, it was just 1:1, which was nice. Yeah, I probably should have been more careful- the thing about Reddit is that instead of leaving ratings directly, both users have to confirm the trade and wait for the mods to award "flair," and the mods were waaaayyy backed up, so it could take two months of trading for someone to get a single point. I tried to assume the best of users for that reason, because it seemed frustrating to have to wait a week or two on every trade for months.

I actually haven't finished the whole thing; I collected every card I could imagine ever wanting, which was about 70% of them, I think. Just recently I've decided that I'd like one more card, so I guess I'm back in the game until then!

I have only done card trading here and had awesome experiences!!

I have only gotten scammed once and it was out of one card.

I haven't traded cards yet and, judging from how difficult it is to GIVE them away, I'm not so sure I want to even try. FYI: I have a lot of duplicate series 1-4 cards and when I offer to give them away,I am met with suspicion and rejection. (I have had one *anonymous* taker so far). This is only natural since the old adage of "never take candy from strangers" is still good advice so I don't feel insulted. Trusting a stranger with your mailing address is never a good idea for children but, if anyone else is having trouble finding that elusive series 1-4 card, PM me with the one(s) you need and, if I have it, it's yours. No strings of any kind. EDIT: 0730 8 Feb MST. Due to a vanishing stash and a larger than expected demand, I must rescind this offer until my duplicates inventory heals. H.

I did a lot of trading on here, and had a few from tumblr and livejournal as well, and every trade has been perfect. People have been so nice, and I've had a few give me extra cards because they'd already finished collecting that series and still had lots left over. I've paid it forward and sent extra cards and have done giveaways as well, because this community has such a good vibe it makes me want to help people finish their collections.

Wow, seriously? That is so kind of you! I can't imagine people being so suspicious of those things :(

People hesitate on getting cards for free? Dude what. I'd be all about that! Getting free cards helps so much!

all the trades I've done on here and reddit have been pretty good. if they're a new user I try to prevent myself from getting scammed by having them send first. there's only one whose hasn't arrived yet when it should have, but she sent first so.. o well. I've had two trades where the cards weren't in mint condition. one trade had two cards with bent marks, and the other trade had the edges slightly scratched? I have a lot of dupes so I decided to just find new ones of those.

Did you complain about the card conditions to them at all? Did they offer to resolve it in some way? I always wonder what the etiquette is when a card you've sent arrives damaged or vice versa.

My only bad trade so far someone sent me 8 cards when they promised 13, 3 of the 8 were not what was advertised and they all had a horrible scent to them :(

Technically I believe you have every right to send them a negative rating if they sent you a messed up card, especially if your thread clearly stated to send mint condition cards.

Edit: obviously try to work it out first.

That's awful! What did you do? D:

I messaged them and they claimed they sent the rest to someone else but honestly I didn't believe them. They said they would send the rest but never did, lucky I hadn't sent out my cards first. I tried to spray the cards with a mist to take away the smell without ruining them.. the smell is still there ;-;

That's so unfortunate! At least you didn't lose something too. That would have been even more awful.

I've never traded here on this site, but I have on eBay and both sites have rating systems. I go by those heavily these days because unfortunately, you have to. Ratings have saved me from buying from con artists or liars claiming to be located in my country when they're in fact in China (only reason that matters is that they're then immune to your countrys consumer laws so you can't simply get a refund).

Guess I'm going off topic here. Just wanted to stress the importance of looking at peoples' ratings for things like this.
