Backing up my town to create a new one...

I've long since gotten bored of my town and I want to make a new one just for fun. but I'm not wanting to just throw away my current town, does anyone know if I can safely take the data of my AC town and back it up on my Laptop, create a new town, and be able to delete the new town and transfer the old town back if I wanted to without problems? I want some opinions on this before I do something I could regret! thanks.

The only way I know of is to use PowerSaves to back it up, which I don't suggest doing seeing as it's a tool used to cheat. I have no idea if it would go over well using it anyway. Otherwise, I don't think there is a way to do so. I just bought an extra copy when I got bored of mine.

there are ways to easily use a save manager if you have custom firmware on your 3ds, but i can’t really give you instructions on how to do that lol

the best way to go is buy a new copy of the game, especially cause it’s only 20 bucks since new horizons has already been announced. plus, when you hack your 3ds theres always the chance that it could brick or corrupt data so i’d recommend a new copy
