Yes, the wildly popular anime/manga series. I was introduced to it by a good friend of mine. I was really late watching it, though. Despite all of my friends yelling at me to watch it during it's original run, I didn't really bother. My reason for this is that I don't really enjoy anime all too often, not too sure why, but anime/manga don't often grab me. That said, I watched it on Netflix and absolutely loved it. I'm on my second watch of it, and I recently bought volumes 1 - 7 of the anime.

I consider it a must see, even if it doesn't really grab you. Heck, I'd watch it just for the beautiful animation.

Anyways, I couldn't find a catch all AoT/SNK thread, so consider this it. This has additional relevance with the reveal of the new dub voices. Opinions?

I plan on watching the series by the time my hectic schedule passes. I want to see what's the hype all about.

Where's a good site to watch this? Can't watch on CrunchyRoll because of region issues :[

I am up to-date with the manga, and it's amazing.
I actually started the series back in June.

I like the dubs for the most part, but I believe Levi's should have been a tad bit different. The only real problems I had with the dubs, is that each character is a different nationality. (Some are the same) so their dialects should be different, but none of them have an accent. Not saying everyone from France has to have an accent, but I would image Jean and Levi being a tad bit French sounding.

I am really nervous about the announcement of Erin's voice actor at Anime Boston. This could make it or break it for me. If it is awful, I'll just continue to watch/read the subtitles.

Try Chia anime, that's where I watched it :p

I don't tend to like dubs, so I'm fine with subs. My main problem with the dub was that Mikasa sounds.. Too white? If that makes sense. She's one of the only non-white characters and I wish they would've shown that with her voice.

I'm all caught-up with the anime and manga. I absolutely love the series! Hanji and Sasha are probably my favourite characters. Though I love Armin and Mikasa as well.

I think the dub is good! However, I must agree with Oxxykitten - Levi's voice is weird. It would have been nice to get different accents but we can't have it all.

What the donuts, there's a dub? Where, how, who, what, where.
I watched it on Netflix

A dub is in the works.
And Netflix has some bad subs, so make sure you watch it somewhere else so you're not missing stuff.
Like.. they wrote Jan and John instead of Jean.

I'm all caught up, and I obsess over it. It's a really great anime, and the manga's pretty good, too.

Yeah, this is true. Funimation subs can be wonky. It's just misspellings and name inconsistencies though. It's still understandable. They did it with Soul Eater too, iirc.

Absolutely love the show, started watching about halfway through the first season. I'm really worried about a second season though, considering it hasn't even been announced yet :/ However I'm pretty excited for the dub, it looks pretty decent just judging by the teaser they showed. Also, Jean is totally my favorite character, it's a bit crazy how much I relate to him.

It'll happen. Don't worry. If it doesn't happen, there will be rage.

ALSO, for anyone who doesn't know:

There's currently an OVA called "Ilse's Notebook", and a new OVA is coming out in early April! :D

I saw gifs of 進撃の巨人 all over tumblr during the summer, I had no clue what it was until I got back to school and a friend told me what it was. Best action anime series I've watched in years. In one of the episodes I almost shed a tear because of how emotional it was, that's the first time an anime has ever made me on the edge of crying.

overrated
dropped the anime
read about 45 chapters of the manga
got bored

It sounds like I completely missed out on the actual story line woooooooooops.
No, no, no. You should be fine having just watched the Funimation dub on netflix. Like I said, it's only some minor errors. Example being changing Jean to John and calling the Survey Corps. The Scouting Legion interchangeably. (both of which would be correct technically)

The plot and all major things were unharmed. Just weird minor translation inconsistencies.

This is my favorite show, omg ;__; <3
I'm not up to date with the mange though because I don't want any spoilers. D:

Oh ok ;)

I enjoyed it up to, I believe, episode 13, and then past that the show started to get incredibly slow and very little happened. I got very bored and I still tuned in each weekend.. but it was mostly to look at the cool art and hope that something would happen in the episode. It was mostly a big disappointment.. but that art... god the style is so beautiful.

I'd still watch it once it rolls into the next season, but I'm not excited enough to keep up to date when they're going to release it.
