It was a cold day and the new recruits all stood in a line outside. Boot camp was huge and I stood up straight as the Commander Shadis, the head instructor, paced through the field of recruits.
"So! You new recruits think you have what it takes to defeat the titans!" Shadis called out to the recruits.

"Well you guys are WRONG!" Shadis paced between people, picking them out. "No one here joins up with the Military Police, the Survey Corps or the Garrison until you prove yourselves! You don't want to get eaten by titans DO YOU!?"
The commander was scary, but I try not to show any emotion. My white hair sways in the breeze as I stare dead ahead.

I turn my head to see a boy exclaim about how he will defeat the titans.
Hearing the voice I pace over to him, looming over I stare dead into his eyes. "Recruit, you have guts, state your name!"

"I wasn't thinking straight when I said what I said, in all honestly I didn't know how to defeat them, all I really wanted was to be apart of the team. Now the attention is on me." I thought. I turned pale and said:

"Minori, speak with confidence, I don't want a weakling! I want a man! How can you possibly take down a titan, if you cant even speak!" Shadis howled.
I feel bad for the boy and roll up my fists, wanting to defend him, but knew if I did, I would be the next target.

I took a deep breath and closed my eyes. Different ideas rushed through me. I had to use my knowledge , though the pressure is crushing my body. I just had to sound confident for once. I know that we can't beat the Titans right now, but the Commander is looking for one thing: MIGHT.
I opened my eyes. The commander's eyes pierced right through it. I didn't care. "We need to train all recruits before we see who's worthy enough to stand against a Titan, sir!" I said with uncertain passion, "Very few of us will make it alive, that's a cruel fact. We need to try to limit the casualties! We have to take things slowly, and expect & analyze every possible situation once we face against the Titans! It is your job to train us sir! and I know that I will push myself physically and emotionally to the very hardest to save mankind!".

I am taken back by the boys speech. Wow. I narrow my eyes and place a fist on my chest and a fist on my lower back, the salute, and stretch out. "Yes, we will train to our very best and we will defeat the titans! Every last one!"
The commander is shocked at the out burst of the two and lets out a smirk. "That's right! We will train until there is nothing left of you! Then if you still have that fire left inside, we will take back what is ours!" Turning to face all the recruits Shadis does the salute. "Put your hand on your heart and swear you will give your life for the good of humanity!"

I sighed in relief. "Phew", i thought, that was a close one. I placed a fist on my chest and a fist on my lower back. I loosened up a bit, knowing that I won't be further questioned by the Commander. I eagerly await the next recruit to speak up.
