Users on TBT are ripping people off in the re-tail forum. I was looking around and people were selling the ice set for 600k on another site. Yet users here ask for about 4 million for the set.

How do you feel about this and has this ever happened to you?

wow! I get really worried about trading stuff on here incase i get ripped off or accidentally rip other people off! I have no idea how much stuff usually goes for as i usually can't find a reference for it. TBT is even worse, I have no idea how much that's actually worth in bells D:

Have not been in Re-Tail for awhile since I tend to use TBT to buy stuff nowadays. Also, I would imagine buyers are sometimes interested in fooling sellers about the value of their items, too.

Hmm ... honestly, I'd say 4mil for the Ice set is maybe a bit much, but 600k is extremely low given that it's unorderable, fairly desirable and out of season. :S
I often see people selling Ice pieces for 100-200k each and that doesn't really strike me as unreasonable.

I think as long as someone is willing to pay that price, it's not a ripoff. As long as no one is forcing anyone to spend a certain amount of bells, and everyone is happy in the end, then it's okay. I've never sold or bought anything here, so I'm not sure how crazy the prices really are. ^-^

I agree with you, the same happens to me... While selling I usually ask for offers

The bell tree forum seems to have wealthier people on it. Prices are always higher here, it's the same with villagers, people buy villagers on this forum for ALOT more than they go for on other sites.

It may seem like a ripoff to you, but to others like me I consider 600k to be a bargain. I really don't care, if it's a ripoff, just move on and don't buy it. If it's like TBT Bells (inflated rate) or villagers go find another way to get it.

Yes I agree the prices here are really high and it's hard for beginners to buy stuff. But I only play for a few weeks, so i'm still very poor. I guess what you could do to take advantage of the situation is buy stuff from other forums at a low price, then sell them for a high price here. Kinda like turnips I guess?

The only thing that really bothers me is selling villagers for outrageous prices. items are items and can be replaced, easily found elsewhere, etc.

Anything over 10 million is a rip off, IMO. Try other websites if that's the case.

You have to remember, alot of people have their wealth through "Other means" like duping or things like that. It inflates how much money is in the economy.

I don't know very much about the ice set but I heard it's rare! :o

Oh! I remember a few weeks back someone was selling pink lillys for 200k each, I doubt they got any buisness :p

Do people still do that?! I thought Nintendo patched it :(

No Nintendo didn't patch it, and i don't think they ever will since the glitch was discovered a year ago and they still haven't done anything about it

Now that you mention it I see tons of threads about the glitch on GameFAQs...but this is off topic :p

Supply and Demand.
If supply is in short order, as it usually is with unorderable items, demand for them goes up.
It's just how it is in the real world too. When demand is high, the price also goes up. When the item is available in quantity, aka you can get it yourself because it's in season, the price goes down considerably. There will also be people who want to make a pretty penny so they'll inflate the price a lot. Same thing happens on eBay too. Lots of auctioneers who place bids try to sneakily change the S&H price to be ridiculous if their item sells for something they don't feel was enough.

Just because you don't like a price doesn't mean these people are greedy or ripping others off. There are many easy ways to get Bells and there are clearly people willing to pay for it, thus making it about supply and demand. The Ice Series can be annoying to get do to repeats, it's out of season, ect. To me, 600,000 Bells for the entire set is insanely low, but I wouldn't say someone is greedy if they have a higher price that people are willing to pay.

Hmm that's odd, I've seen the Ice Set go for about 10 mil. Anyways, I do agree with the prices. A lot of items are extremely overpriced. It's like buying a simple sapling for 100K.
