Asking for really high prices.

I do agree that some of the prices are ridiculous here, like fertilizer is about 50-100k each (though the person selling me the fertilizers was very generous and let me buy them for 20k each).

There's bargains to be had here as well, and people here are very generous. I've brought 7-11 sets for 1.5 million and I've got a sloppy set free in a Christmas giveaway. I've given away many items and villagers myself.

People always seem to be willing to help out those who've lost their towns here as well.

I'm on the fence on this one. I've gotten crazy free stuff from super generous users here (free 7-11 set, DLCs, hybrids, Gorgeous Set) but at the same time some people like to drive up crazy prices (who doesn't want more bells). I think its a matter of knowing how much you should pay for an item by doing your research so as not to get ripped off.

I'm pretty new here and I kind of like that the TBT is worth so much because all i have to do to get it is to post and socialize on the forums, it's much more time consuming and monotonous to harvest peaches or to spend hours slowing creeping up to island bugs on palm trees.

but then again ppl are also very generous on these forums. i see a lot of giveaways daily as well as tons of cycling villager threads where tier 1 villagers r given away for free.

I've been playing online since April, and I've seen those prices go up and go down. Before everyone got out of school last May, I feel like 4M for the ice set would have been high, but not outrageous. Then prices really fell over the summer - there were plenty of players who were relatively poor but looking for a fun game for the summer. But there's a big difference in the practices allowed on this site, and I think that might factor into prices. An ice set here is supposed to mean a lot of snowflake catching, and that's not necessarily the case elsewhere. I think people expect to be paid for their time to catch those flakes:) The 600K on another site is perhaps from someone taking advantage of a glitch in the game, which doesn't take much effort at all.

This is very true. There are a lot of generous people on here and on the other forums.Sometimes I see people asking huge prices for items, and I think that no one will respond.I'm sometimes amazed when they do.lol.

It's all about supply and demand and also what website you're on. Tumblr is a great place to get a fair price for most things. I mainly trade on here though.

I can't ask people to drop a lot of bells on something I have, because I've had people be really nice for me when they didn't have to. Somebody gave Julian away in a giveaway, and I was the winner. Actually that was the only giveaway I entered thus far. So to get something like that... it just makes me want to be really nice for others. Originally, I was going to auction off any Tier 1 villagers I was getting out of my town. But then I realized that it takes a lot of hard work to earn all those bells... and so I gave Diana away to a woman who was getting her for her 9 year old daughter.

All of that said, if I had the bells and didn't worry about it, I'd totally be willing to part with 10 million for a villager I really wanted. I've got a lot of TBT saved up, though I'm actually hoping to be able to get somebody to make me an art banner for my sig here with my dreamies - I've gone from only those two to now SIX villagers I really want in my town. But yeah, all things considered, I think things are pretty fair on here.

People can sell stuff with whatever prices they want, but I do agree the prices can get really high in that board. It's one of the reasons I've seen so much shops that have been successful; lower but reasonable prices have far more popularity/revenue than huge, unreasonable prices.

Yeah, inflation in prices are incredible! Whenever I sell something though it makes it easier for me to make a bigger profit especially if I sell a whole bunch of rare items at once for lower than the average asking price which is usually in my opinion pretty high. So even when I lower the price I still think it's relatively high. Like once I lower the price of items selling for like 100k bells each to 50k bells each and I made some pretty great profits that day.
