"artificial" villagers

first of all, sorry for making two threads in a row

but i feel really guilty that all my bear cubs come from other people. i mean, i'm incredibly grateful to everyone who helped me. but i feel kind of dirty because, if it weren't for the goddamn auto move-outs, pudge and chester were originally auto move-ins. in fact, pudge was one of my starting villagers.

but now none of my villagers are "organic" anymore. i know it's nothing to be ashamed of but i just feel bad that my town isn't as natural as before.

am i just weird or does anyone else kinda feel like this...?

Whenever I have a villager move into my town from another town, or when I see towns with all of the villager houses plot reset and in a perfect row, it does seem kinda 'artificial' in a way. It's one of the reasons why I'm letting the villagers do whatever in my town. They can come and go, and smash stuff along the way, and I'll just work with what I have and change my town if I need to. I don't think I've ever actually bought a villager, now that I think about it.

Well it doesn't seem "artificial" to me as long as the villager don't come from [intentionally ugly town name with numbers in it] XD I see it this way: all the villagers have a past and since none of them have families around, I assume even your starters are from another town. They just don't mention it

I felt very strongly about not adopting villagers from other people before I actually did, but now I really am happy that I am able to get my dreamies with help from other people, since that wasn't a possibility for me before in any of the AC games.

I still occasional feel like I should've gotten them on my own as a challenge, but I now like the added dialogue, so I wouldn't change anything about them.

btw, do you have a DA? I'd love to visit if you did. :3

i've never adopted a villager, but i've given away a couple villagers through my previous and current town. i don't think you should feel guilty about it, i actually think it's a really great option in the game that you can give a villager to someone who really wants them.

i normally just campsite re-set or villager re-set to find mine and that doesn't seem that "organic" either, but w/e it doesn't bother me at all.

I know how you feel! Part of what makes New Leaf so much fun is the feeling of accomplishment you get by making and creating your town all with your own time and hard work. I have only 1 villager that I have bought, but that's only because he was a good deal and wasn't taken, villager of opportunity. Don't feel bad! Just think of how much time it would have been trying to get all those specific villagers. Days plot resetting, resetting the campsite to see if they might be there. Sometimes it is just too much time and overwhelming effort but now you can enjoy them without the stress of all that mundane waste of time!

I don't see anything wrong from getting villagers from other people. It's your game. You decide how you want to play it. I personally never thought about it in that way. I just saw it as making it easier to get certain things in your town. I don't judge anyone how they play. What someone thinks "artificial" and "natural" is very objective.

I know how you feel exactly :') I was buying villagers a lot a week or two ago (I ended up having I think 3 in my town who I had bought, all within the span of a couple days) and I started feeling like it was taking some of the fun away for me. Actually it even led to me deleting that town because I felt guilty, lol. I feel like you do, like you should work on your town yourself and see it through with your own hard work and dedication.

there's nothing wrong with buying/trading villagers, I just found out that it isn't the way I like to play

I don't see any difference on whether a villager moves in via my campsite, whether I adopt from my daughter's towns or whether I adopt from another players town. In my eyes, there are no artificial villagers. I play the game in the manner I enjoy, according to nobodies opinions but my own. However anyone else plays their game is their business. I don't think there is a wrong way to play. That is what makes this game so wonderful. However you play, if you TT or don't, adopt villagers from other towns or wait for your campers, buy bells here or earn them in game, cycle or keep a family of the same villagers, there is no wrong way to go

I do adopt some villagers if I REALLY want them, but honestly I agree with you. I also thought of villager house plotting but I'm way to lazy for that, know.

I think adopted villagers are great! While there's no greater surprise joy in ACNL than having a dreamie in the campsite or as a random move-in, it's also so fun to be able to go and adopt that particular villager you've been hoping for. To me, they're even a bit more interesting that "organic" move-ins, because of their old town tune they whistle, or their former mayor they reminisce about. I think that's so cute! (Apple in my town of Goblin still wears a little pink heart shirt she got from her original mayor, and I'll be so sad when she changes out of it one day.)

tl;dr: Your town is great with the villagers you've chosen!

I deleted my village shortly after paying 120 TBT for Julian, because I didn't like what I was becoming! Well, that, and a few other factors. But I see what you mean. While I will still probably sell villagers, just so others can get dreamies, I will no longer buy them, and just enjoy the natural ebb and flow.

I know what you mean. Now that a lot of my villagers are from other towns I kinda wish they weren't. But I know that if I hadn't gotten them that way, there would've been a bunch I didn't like.
