art programs for mac os?? (yosemite)

I've been a windows user for my whole life, but this Christmas by parents suprised me with a macbook to replace my failing HP.
I quite like the mac but my main art program (paint tool SAI) apparently doesn't run on mac @_@ so I was wondering what art programs people use???

Im running the latest version of yosemite.

I was thinking maybe Photoshop or illustrator but I never used them, even on windows (plus I'm poor).

Links and whatnot would be appreciated

SAI does run on mac but there's no pen pressure which sucks big time

i don't use photoshop cause no $$$ either ahahh ; u ;

Try Fire Alpaca! It works pretty well and has lots of nice features. It's the one i've been using for over a year now.

You can also try GIMP, if you'd like. (i've never used it, but i heard it's alright)
As a last resort you can find various art programs in the mac store but most of them aren't all that good and don't have many features.

I used gimp on my old computer to edit my stuff, but never to draw with @_@
The Mac store doesn't really seem like it has interesting things - do you have any apps you would recommend? :0 not drawing ones, but in general xD

ye fire alpaca is pretty good! you can also add you own custom brushes so daz coo

ehhh i don't really have any mac apps cx everything seems pretty lame to me

oh i know you didn't ask for this but if you have an iPad and would like to draw on it try Art Studio c: i've been using for about 4 years now

Yeah the store seems kinda bare to me (and everything is paid???? or with in-app purchases?? w0t)

I actually don't have an ipad xD
My phone/tablet are both androids haha

oh there are tons of fire alpaca brushes on tumblr and deviant art (probs from people in the same situation as us ;-; ), so you'll have no trouble finding some c:

no i've never tried inkscape o: i've actually never heard of it before
have you tested it out?

tbh SAI was my first drawing program and for nearly a year i thought my tablet that was dysfunctional and the reason why i had no pen pressure.. ahah...
i still use SAI sometimes but usually just for pixel art

I've downloaded and tried FireAlpaca and I must say this is very nice. You should try it if you haven't. It feels like SAI.
