So I made it my mission today to go on a mystery island with a ton of palm trees and try to grab these last two beetles for my museum. (Golden stag and horned hercules)

2 hours and no luck I don't know if I should start on a new mystery island or just let the random generator do its thing eventually.

I can't say how long it took me to find all the beetles (the giraffe and hercules ones were my hardest). Maybe two days? I get tired fast, lol.

I found catching or hunting for the beetle butts at 1am-2am the best. I also brought extra palm trees to plant on the mystery island.

Idk if that helps or you already tried as much as possible. 😰

I did bring the extra palm trees but I will try the 1:00 a.m. thing thank you. Of course right after the last post I got the golden stag so it's just the horned Hercules now

I wouldn't bother with the extra palm trees. Just have two, chop down the two southerly ones as it's harder to sneak up on those.

Also, make sure you remove every other tree (including the stumps) and all flowers.

If the beetles aren't spawning, have a run around to shoo away any other bugs.

The rare beetles were definitely hardest part of the bug encyclopedia to fill. Even when they do appear, they are very flighty and take off if you don't approach with extreme caution.

Well still no luck cuz for the last one but I got plenty for flick to make into some interesting models but I need to give my eyes a break

note too that the island spawns stay locked into the ones at the time you arrive

so you can't like say catch bugs at 4pm while waiting for ones at 6pm to show

even at midnight, those 4pm bugs will never leave, if they otherwise should

also alternatively, go swimming. since some bugs like butterflies and the water bugs can't be shood away, and instead would need to be either caught or force despawned, via going far enough away from them

I actually time traveled back to summer just so I could get the horned hercules and horned elephant. It was tedious but I was finally able to catch them both. Hopefully you'll get one soon!
