Are you picky about who is on your island?

Okay, so I’m not sure if I would like to have random villagers or be picky about who lives on my island, so just out of curiosity, are you picky on who lives on your island with you? Or do you not care at all and have random villagers?

im not picky atm but i might start being because im starting a themed island and i might kick out whoever doesn’t fit in with the theme (ik it sounds harsh)

I started my island with a plan; I planned on having the following villagers: Punchy, Kiki, Merry and/or Rosie, Roscoe, Ankha, Marshal, Lolly, Puddles (before I invited her to the camp and saw she didn’t have same vibe as she gave me in NL).

Later, I decided I wanted to cycle through villagers, though by then I already had a lot of permanent villagers and I keep finding more who I am reluctant to let go.

I had no plans to keep Fuschia or Rudy, my starters (until I got to know him better and by then i had ruined his house with random athletic furniture). I found Lily on a mystery island with no intentions of keeping even though I thought she was pretty cute, but later considered making her permanent but decided in the end against it to prioritize Lolly (before I decided I wanted Raymond and Sherb).

Right now, I still plan on having certain villagers in my final line up, but I’m trying to avoid finding the last two that I wanted from the start so I can cycle. I did want to cycle through them all, but after having taken a break over the winter, I realized that I may not have the patience to do that and i have been struggling getting pictures since they changed what works.

Even though there are a lot of villagers I am interested in, there are some I don’t think I want to invite even for their pics: such as Rocket & Violet 😅. So I guess you can say in that sense I am picky. I will skip some villagers if I have their amiibo card as well. Those have lower priority to invite to my island.

Problem with my plan to cycle is that I used some amiibo cards way too early in the game and then found some other favorites over time on mystery island tours, and Judy at a campsite. I did not expect to like or keep her yet now even though she is taking up a cycling spot i am reluctant to let her go.

Sorry if my response is a bit all over the place.

I wasn't picky on my first save file, but now that I'm starting over (resetting for that 'perfect' island has been brutal), I'm going to be pretty picky this time around.

To a degree I am, since I only want at most 1 of any species on my island at any given time, and I want to make sure all 8 personality types are on my island, so I won't invite a villager to my island that would violate either of those rules. Otherwise I don't really care too much who my villagers are.

Yeah I am mostly picky. I don't like the Lion, Kangaroo, Mice, Bull, Cow, Chicken, or Monkey villagers because they have such a weird design and none of them stand out to me. Also any villager that has an outdoor theme inside their home is not really welcomed. I prefer villagers that have more a adorable look to them and their homes must be fitted with a style that makes sense and it fits with the indoor theme that I usually like where its very relaxed and has my favorite color (blue or green) to it.

I feel like I am a bit picky, in the sense that I don’t let the plots autofill. But I just love the process of island hopping and picking new villagers.

however, I also have at least 100 villagers I would love to have and probably a hundred more I could like.

I want to try having a lot more villagers, because talking to and befriending my villagers is the best part of the game for me. But I also get super super attached and have a strange sense of guilt associated with letting villagers go. So my villager turnover rate is not too high right now, though I am trying to convince myself to at least let some of my villagers who I have amiibos for move out.

I used to be more picky when island hopping, because I thought it would be difficult to be able to get villagers to move out when I wanted them to. But I is much easier than I thought, and my villager taste expanded, to the point that I can rarely do an island hopping expedition if more that 10 islands (and my preference would be something like 30-50)

I think I am in a phase of exploring the villagers, and hope one day to have a better idea of who my top favorites are (just because it is a thing I personally like the idea of, not because I think there is a right and wrong way to approach the game), but for now it is nice finding new villagers to appreciate all the time.

so basically, in a way I am picky, because I don’t let just anyone move in or out, but on the other hand there are relatively few villagers I think I really don’t like, and for now at least I am not going with a theme or anything.

Hopefully, I will not end up with 300 favorites for 10 villagers spots - that would be way too unpicky.

Most villagers are.. not pleasant to look at, so I mind very much. If I have an empty plot, I try to fill it right away so that I don't get a random move in. Last time I was too busy to do so, and Bruce moved in. /:

my answer was initially going to be “no” but after thinking it over, i suppose i am kind of picky lol. i personally prefer to choose which villagers live on my island rather than letting random ones in; not necessarily because i’m picky but because i really enjoy island hopping. however, i’ve come up with a list of villagers that i’d love to have on my island at some point and so when looking for a new neighbour, i tend to only invite villagers that are on that list unless someone else catches my eye. i’m still pretty open to most villagers, though! i guess i’m just trying to get my favourites out of the way first. 😅

I am kinda picky but I also like the element of randomness. The way I do it is I strictly use 15 tickets to look for a villager that I would want but if I haven’t found one, I have to take whoever is the 15th ticket even if they end up being someone like Limberg. It makes it more interesting and sometimes I do end up liking some of these “ugly” villagers.

Kinda. I have a set of villagers I have a history with, I have stories about (x is dating x for example), etc. I allowed a few new faces this time around which is nice. But mostly picky, yeah.

I kinda second this - I couldn't help it, but I got Zucker from an island and loved him. Then I saw his house was an outside food setup. I get what they were going for, but wasn't for me. Just glad he went to a loving home.

I’m very picky, I made a list including my two nostalgic besties (Olivia from Wild World and Lolly from City Folk) and then I picked my favourite villager of each personality type from the list of all villagers in game, then got their amiibos. 😂
That doesn’t mean I don’t like other villagers, I had Fauna as a random move in and she was very hard to let go, but I really wanted Deirdre :’)

I like seeing and getting new villagers so I’m not picky at all. I love villagers moving out and randoms moving in! Once I get their photo they’re free to go again. The only two villagers that are permanent are Willow, because she’s my favourite, and Raymond, because I can’t believe how lucky I got getting him.

I'm pretty picky when it comes to my villagers :/ I care a lot about their personality/look/house. Currently I have 2 villagers left that I want to change before I have my perfect lineup but they just don't want to move out 😭

The only time I let a random villager move into my island was Bianca (one of the first 3 plots), and Curlos (forced campsite smug). I have never let any random villager move in.

I can be pretty picky. But I honestly don't mind if I have no other choice.
