No, I’m only fluent in English. I took four years of German in high school, I think I was at intermediate high on most of the categories on the biliteracy test? Muy dad and I practiced growing up as well which really helped me in the long run. We still speak some phrases, I’m a bit rusty though ^^;
Currently, I only know English. I took French and Spanish in college, though I can only understand them at a basic level and cannot speak them well at all. I also understand Persian well because it's my parents' language, and I mainly use it to communicate with family members.
English is the only language I'm fluent in but I did have cousins growing up who spoke Spanish and I remember watching a few kids shows in Spanish together, as well as spending the holidays w/ them, sadly I can't say I remember much if any Spanish now
Currently I'm interested in learning Arabic though since I'd like to learn it for my volunteering job, and also for the fact that I have some Egyptian heritage and I think it'd be interesting to learn at least a little of the Egyptian dialect as well in my own time.
I also took Japanese classes in high school for a year, which I enjoyed so I might try learning Japanese again.
I think my first language was technically Russian but I effectively forgot it within my first month of preschool so I don’t really regard it as my first language (I have basically native English )
I don’t really know if I count russian as a language I “know” though. I can understand it if someone is speaking it, but I will probably misunderstand a couple words if it’s not like my parents
I can’t speak it at all. People always think this is an excuse but genuinely I can’t speak it. My brain is not fast enough to make the connections between English and Russian to make it come out of my mouth and sound right, and I tend to forget words when recalling them a lot
I have like extremely basic knowledge of the written language and could struggle though reading basic text
I'm only fluent in English, but I know quite a bit of French because... Canada. Granted, about a third of that knowledge is from the French part of product labels. I plan on learning Greek for religious reasons, and depending on whether I decide to stay in Canada or not, I'll either learn Norwegian or more French.
