I've always been more of a cat person, although dogs also hold a special place in my heart as well. Cats, though, are just super majestic to me, and I feel almost as if I can relate to them more in many different ways, such as being shy yet mischievous (with most cats that I've had in my life so to speak), and also just generally quite reserved. However, obviously this does not apply to everyone seeing as to how there are some people who despise cats in favor of dogs, or some people who just love both dogs and cats equally. I'm curious to see how this community feels about this whole argument between dogs vs cats, so go ahead and vote if you want!
Cats, I'm scared of any and all animals but cats just seem to do their own thing and don't bother you too much or try to approach you, so i'm fine with that because it means I don't have to keep my distance. Dogs on the other hand..
Definitely cats. They don't require as much maintenance or training as a dog does. They do their own thing, and because they are intelligent creatures, training on a simple subject such as stopping them from begging and getting on the counters is an easy thing to do.
They're also more graceful in manner than dogs are. Cats tend to feel very relaxed when laying across your lap, but dogs would jab into you with their less-flexible joints. Cats can do a lot of things that dogs can't, like climb a screen in a window and reach under a stove to get a mouse.
They're also just cuter in general. I like all types of cats, especially long-haired cats. But there are many species of dog that I really dislike, like Chihuahuas and a number of short-haired dogs.
Also, I just like cats more from experience. Growing up I had a lot of cats and only one dog--which killed cats. That made me become less fond of dogs from the start. My mom calls me the cat whispered because I can communicate with and interact positively with any cat I meet.
I love both! I have a dog and love their energy and playfulness and that they follow you~ they're such gifts ;v;
Cats are really cute, their meows and little faces and paws~ I've never been close to one though, but someday I definitively want to own 1 or 2 (or be owned by them?) :>
