Are you losing anyone? You can view the question in any way you want.

I am. This one teacher at my school is one of the best women on this earth. She isn't afraid to say what she thinks, she speaks 8 languages, she knows almost everything, she is witty, caring, and a lovely person. I saw during the summer, and about 2 weeks later it was discovered that she has a brain tumor. This of course meant that she couldn't teach. I was very concerned, but she is so strong, I figured there was hope. I sent her a letter with a pendant that I made. Everyone has been trying to help her. My friend emailed her, and today she got a horrifying response (in perfect french). She says that she isn't going to recover at all. She is going to die. I feel horrible. I feel horrible for her, because she knows she is going to die. I feel horrible for her daughter, because she doesn't have a dad, and now her mother will be gone. And I feel horrible for myself and everyone close to her. It was such a huge bombshell to get this news by email, I just burst out crying. A few days prior, I decided to write on the white board of her old class room (people still call it her room, not her replacement's) "We love you (name). Keep on trooping." I feel so helpless because there is nothing I can do.

So, anyone else experiencing grief/in the process of losing someone? Have you ever been in a situation like this before? How did you deal with it?

One of my friends is moving schools
Another is moving to Perth
Another is moving to England
Another is moving to Melbourne
Another is moving to Alice Springs
12 others are dropping out.

;__;
I am so sorry to hear that. I wish her well regardless.
You just need time to heal.):

Doubly sad because she was a teacher. We need more good teachers.

Sorry to hear it, it's not often that you actually admire your teacher as a person, so it must be tough for you.

On topic, my granddad has Dementia. If you don't know what this is, it is the name of the condition describing a damaged brain/ shrunken brain. This can happen in many ways, but we think the strokes he has had have been the main cause. Anyway, Dementia is a progressive condition and does gradually get worse, and something like 70% of people with Dementia do die as there is no known cure.

It's sad for me because my granddad is my last family link to Poland. He was captured by the Germans in WWII and sent to a German aeroplane factory where he was forced to build planes for the people he hated most in his life. However, after a few years he and his friends decided to escape, to catch a train and head for neutral soil. They knew the consequences for getting caught would be death, but they decided to go anyway. For some reason which he never told me, they had to go back to the factory after they escaped, and when they got back they saw that the factory had been destroyed by Tommie bombers, and nobody had survived.

Anyway, I could go on forever about his war stories, but I obviously can't. He was one of the bravest people I have known, and to see him in such a state now that he sometimes forgets that he is in his own home, it really is tragic.

If you ever have some spare money, I really encourage you to donate to the Dementia Research Charity. Recently they have made a breakthrough in finding out the cause, and finding the cause is a major step forward to finding the cure. If you have family history with Dementia, 15-25% of people will get it, so it is a very common illness, and a terrible one at that.

Oh i feel sorry for that : (

My math teacher back in grammar school lost her son due to drug overdosing on friday.

This thread makes me sad. Condolences to you all, guys.

I can't really say I've lost anyone close to me, at least not recently. One of my mice in class passed away on Monday, if that counts. RIP Gorgonzola. ):

Apparently, my friend told me my catholic teacher's father died 2 days ago. My god. This is getting worse and worse around here.

Ah, dear, my condolences to all of you.

I'm not exactly losing anyone, my elderly grandparents are sick in general, but they try to stay physically fit. There's nothing mentally wrong with the two of them.

...On quite the contrary, my father's mother is completely insane. She's extremely old, and...won't give in. She has various physical problems, and a nurse takes care of her half the time, while the other half, my father does.

My friend is thinking of committing suicide. Praying for him.
and
My best friend is in love with a sick *censored.5.0* and I worry about her when she's with him.

Oh yeah!
I almost forgot.

Some of us Nintendo nerds have friends that bash Nintendo just because it's not all bloody and gory (which they think is hilarious and entertaining) and sometimes cute (Kirby). While we keep winning arguments, they keep insulting us with little kid insults that we don't really care about (your face, your mom, etc.).

What does that have to do with anything mentioned in this thread?

We're losing them. We might not have them as friends anymore.

Dammit nook, shut the hell up. Leave it up to you to act like a *censored.1.1* during a serious thread.

Not that-- oh wait.

My mom's friends niece, Cici graduated from high school, was preparing to go to college. Cici and Jodell (My mom's friend) took a trip to Alaska, but when they were there, she had a seizure and was diagnosed with a brain tumor. Luckily they caught it quick enough that they were able to safely remove it. She has to walk with a walker, but she's getting better.

I'm not "losing" anyone death-wise, but I am going through a family depression, not that you guys care.

Anyway, I am very sorry about those losses, God bless their souls.

Thankfully, everyone I know is alright, as far as I know. ^^
