I am, actually. Although I am currently trying to terraform some parts of my island so there will be some improvements. lol I still don't know where to put my nook's cranny and ables though so there's still that to consider.
Not on purpose, but the island design process is moving slow enough to where I’ll have plenty of space if when they introduce new buildings/items within the year.
I don’t want to have the exact same island forever anyway. It’s fun to evolve different areas!
my island might look finished to people that are visiting but it's just not permanent, ya feel me? i also have certain sections that i still have plans for but i'm too lazy (or don't have time) to change with my vision. besides, if not for future updates, there are seasons too. so i'm bound to change something. idk how people finish their island with the intention of it being permanent. no matter what, we're somewhat faced to make changes because of the future updates.
not to be shady to other people, but what does "finished" even mean. because i do get OP's question and it seems like finished islands are something we hear quite often, tied to people not wanting to tear down certain areas to make space for new buildings. i guess some people are not keen to the idea of updates, and i can respect that & it's their opinion. but for me, the game progresses with different seasons, so i don't know how i'd want to be stuck with it forever. i mean even with bushes, there's upkeep from time to time & i think i don't mind. it gives me something to do. i also haven't tt'ed to other seasons, so i'm still excited over new DIY's. i remember being sad that cherry blossom was so short, and even for that it was a lot of changes i had to do already because i have to move trees as plain trees are definitely boring during the summer.
and add to that, new horizons is not like new leaf where items outside had to be paid pwp's, so most of us were just stuck with our new leaf towns mostly once we like it. even with PWP's we had to wait for villager pings in able to build it, so i don't remember people finishing their plans that quick. there were always changes when the PWP you want is suddenly suggested. i think people are forgetful that this used to be how the game was like hahaha. not everything is accessible so early. so in my opinion, being able to place furniture outside is already the best thing that could happen because at least it makes everything much easier.
Back when the datamining was telling us about new buildings, I would've said yeah, but now I'm happy to just set up little things here and there that I won't feel bad moving somewhere else or replacing should something come in later on. I also have yet to see what I'll do with fall and winter furniture, and since iirc we need empty grass space to roll snowballs I might change my design sense to have more open grassy expanses as lawns or fields down the road.
Yeah, I'm not rushing to finish my island because I'm hoping we get more furniture or buildings in future updates. I also haven't finished my island because I've run out of ideas with the current furniture selection, and I am hoping I'll get inspired via future updates
Unfortunately not, but I am trying to be mindful of it! I think it would actually be fun to have to redo things when new updates come like the coffee shop or something else. I would appreciate having a new project and having to make all of those tweaks, it would be an added challenge to give me something to do in the game after I've mostly completed my biggest goals for my island. It'll keep me coming back, is what I mean.
I do, however, have a spot left over just for the coffee shop . I have high hopes for that. Other things, I don't want to rob my island of the opportunity to all be evenly developed for things that have no guarantee to be added, at least anytime soon.
I had been. But after today's update I've decided to just do whatever I want bc I'm too impatient to keep waiting for staggered buildings and furniture. I'll just move stuff around if I have to and that's that.
