There is a new flu spreading, and it is different from the usual flu. It's a combination of swine, avian, and human influenza. It has effected people in Mexico City, Mexico and they have closed all public places in the city (schools, museums, etc.) for a week. Also, they have been handing out masks for people who are riding public transportation.
Apparently, people in Texas and California have also come down with the influenza. And my mother (who is a nurse) says that what is scary about this influenza is that it is spreading VERY fast .... after all, this outbreak has just been on the news in the past couple of days .... and she says that it's weird that young people are dying from this flu, because normal flu is more likely to kill the very young or very old. Also, she told me a lot of kids in Queens, NY have become sick and they are not sure if it is the flu, and are running lab tests right now.
So, my question to everyone is ... are you scared of the influenza and that it could possibly become a pandemic?
I personally, am not scared because I think the media makes things much more worse than they are, and I remember they made a huge deal about the bird flu, but nothing ever really happened.
