somehow, it makes me uncomfortable knowing im the wealthiest person on the island lmaoo

the fact that they rarely ever buy things or only contribute like 100 bells to projects makes me think theyre broke. ofc sometimes villagers offer to buy things off you, but the highest anyone offered me was 1,000 bells. i dont like this icky wealth gap >_<

All of the villagers live on a beautiful, tropical island without paying a mortgage. The vast majority of them do not appear to have jobs, and stroll around all day without a care in the world. It appears to me that the only logical conclusion is that they are abusing the welfare system. Thank you for coming to my TED Talk.

FTFY. ;)

This is so true though, although they all have nice houses except the 5 starting villagers lol

I was gonna say maybe they are just cheap and that is why they dont donate that much, but i remebered that they often give me bells after i gift them something. The poor things are broke because they wanna make you happy and gift you money.

In Animal Crossing Wild Word, the people of Boondox are so poor that they have to eat dirt to survive. As you donate bells to the people of Boondox, you learn that Tiny Tommy Hicks is able to have a proper 5th birthday due to your generosity. Surely, the universal base income does not extend to the people of Boondox.
However, Tiny Tommy Hicks appears to be a clear alternate-universe version of the Tommy we know and love. So why don't the people of Boondox have a universal base income? It appears to me that the villagers of our island are abusing the welfare system by faking disabilities, and as a result, cheating the people of Boondox out of their rightful share.

Naw, they aren't poor. They're cheap. Snake has no issue giving me like.. 2k for a cherry whenever I gift him one.

Based on the number of times a day I have to buy the stuff they want to sell me, I am guessing they are flat broke! Either that or they think I am a Nooks rep... LOL

Don’t think Rod is poor. He bought a Billard Table for 77.000 Bells and gave me over 3000 Bells for a gift I gave him. Probably the richest Animal on my Island.

They're not poor. Zell said he spent 40k bells on some kind of bag, and I know Flurry said she's spent 50k on a pen before.

Elvis is one of my new villager, just look at his house, he is very rich 😆

oh my god, I'll never forget the time in new leaf when Hugh asked to buy an item from me for 100 bells and said "this is my entire life savings"

suddenly I felt terrible for mocking my villagers for only donating a few hundred bells to my bridges...
they were trying their best :(

Frickin Chops put a billiard table out of nowhere in his house, and always be acting like a noble I should respect. He's just cheap.
Or the other side, Mac sells me his stuff and looks very relief when I buy it. Poor baby.

Meh I mean I don't think they're poor, Diana has a giant bathtub that's always on (assuming water bills exist in AC). Ankha's whole room is gold. The only poor person is Biff, who lives on the freaking street. And Mira, who rented a stage as her house. Probably more.

I mean I don't know... my villagers keep giving me upwards of 600 bells every day when I gift them coconuts...
