Are the Villager Houses Permanent?

I don't really like the way one of my villagers house is placed. I'm trying to get him to move out, but will the house be there forever? Or will it be gone when he leaves, and the new villager will reside in a new area?

It will be gone once he leaves. The new villager can reside anywhere where there is space available! Also, to make sure any new villager houses aren't placed in unwanted locations, you can do the plot resetting trick . I'm really bad at explaining, haha, but you can easily find it online!

Basically, if you know what day a new villager will be moving in (generally: the very next day if you asked them from another town, the day after the next day if you got them from the campsite), you start the day as a new character. You cannot start as mayor after 6am or it will lock the plot location in place. So, start as a new character and look for the plot. If you like where it is, go through the routine of placing a house and saving your game with Isabelle. You can then delete this character and the plot will stay where you saved it. If you don't like the plot location, you hit the HOME button and close the game, then go back in as another new character. Repeat this process until you like where the plot is.

It may sound complicated, but it's simple once you learn.
