Are the color variations separate items?

A lot of the clothing items now come in different colors. Can I buy one and change it to a different color variation in any way? Or are they essentially different items?

Ah ok thank you. I wish we could change it with the workbench it would make completing the catalog that much easier

Yeah that would of made much more sense. But as long as all colors are available in my game I don't mind that much.
What bothers me more is the variation of the nook mile items. They should of let us have all colors available in our game and just have them rotate daily. Having to trade for them is kinda annoying.

Some of my friends have been buying out the Able Sisters every day for 50K+ to get all the colors of certain items, haha.

This doesn't bother me too much since I typically only like 1-2 of the swatches anyway. Sad from a catalog perspective though.

I did that with some skirts and socks in Able Sisters yesterday.

I wish you could buy more than one in each category when you are in the dressing room. It's a pain to have to go in and out just to get a different color pair of shoes.
