So I have all regular DIYs and all current Celeste DIYs. I don't time travel or get out of season DIYs so I don't have mushroom stuff or ice stuff, but I wanted to be able to do something nice for the community. However, I don't exactly like people coming to my town because of the annoying visitor dialogue that the villagers end up having, so I want to do something that I could do in the other person's town. So crafting seems like the best option, where the other person would provide the materials but I'd craft whatever they want for them. But considering how hard it's been to even get rid of free DIY dupes, would there even be any interest in this at all? I want to help others but I don't think I have any services to provide other than this :( But I'd rather not open a thread if no one is interested. Let me know what you guys think please! Thank you!

Looking out for this thread because im curious too. Was actually gonna offer a crafting service shop for a nominal fee today but decided against it because some people are just rude :( cant please everyone.

I've seen people offering crafting services a while ago but it sort of died out? Maybe people have tried it already and it isn't popular.

I personally don't see myself paying for crafting services, but that's mostly because I'm pretty spontaneous with my decorating.

But mine would be free hehe.

Yeah it's unfortunate :( I feel like most people would be nice but yeah, sometimes the few ruin it for the many.

I don’t particularly think they are.... I tried tos start one for flower crowns and wreaths but it did not get any traction

I think when people search for a craftable item, they search for the DIY and not a crafting service.
+ many people got a lot of DIYs already.

yeah at this point of the game, many people got a lot of DIYs already, especially that people who play online often trades
they'd rather trade DIYs or get the DIYs they have missing

of course there's still people who would request to craft. not just as much as earlier.
i think for OP tho, i think shops have an advantage if they have seasonal crafting. because some people who don't tt give in to those offers online. just from what i've seen.

I had a crafting thing during spring blossom season. And I came out to the conclusion that is a lot of work for something for free. And a lot of people are rude and entitled too. I remember someone demanding 20 lanterns from me to craft. can you imaging spending that time to do it for free. At one point I said I would do only 2 items of each bc too many people demanded a lot.

Myself I haven't used a crafting service since a long time since i have almost all diy cards. But I do sometimes use a crafting service for celeste DIY's.

I say you can offer it for free as a side thing, but definitely put a limit on how many items you are willing to craft. or demand compensation.

I could see that being useful, especially for crowns, wreaths, and some of the Celeste DIYs, as some of the prices I've seen some people trying to charge for those are ridiculous and really undermine the sense of community around here for me.

I always try to do fair trades, so I'd be much more inclined to tip somebody who takes the time to come and craft some of the rarer DIYs for me than I would to shovel 60 NMTs / TBTs to someone for the DIY card!

This is exactly why i dont do giveaways or open free shops anymore. People can be so entitled or rude and it really ruins everything for everyone else. Now I would rather charge like 3-5 tbt per item than make it free so at least people who bother may actually want the item. And if theyre rude well. At least im compensated for it. :/

I thought about offering free service like this too. However, we have people like @xara and @Jennifer who does them. I am not sure if they are getting a lot of volume lately.

My shop started off simply to collect tickets for my Felicity search. However, after seeing a lot of requests from different players, I am starting to see the need to continue offering my catalog service even after I finish my search. I know that there are other shops out there who offer more sets than I do. But my focus is only charging them with Nook Miles ticket which hardly has any value at the moment.

I have used crafting services a few times. Mainly for rare Celeste items when I couldn’t do them myself.

Even if they were “free” I appreciate the time taken so would always tip.

Thanks to those that do this so we can get rare diys when game doesn’t want us to be happy 😝

Darn I didn't think people would be that bad :( I really wanna help people but I'm sometimes a little sensitive to unkindness and being taken advantage of.. I wish I wouldn't *have* to put a limit but yeah I can see it becoming really frustrating to do for free if people make you craft a lot of items and are rude about it. I'll keep this in mind if I decide to open a service. Thanks for the advice!

I run one: https://www.belltreeforums.com/threads/free-crafting-services-for-516-diys.555115/

I've only helped a few people, but it was nice to help them and they gave me tips. Win-Win. Nothing to lose, if people don't respond, oh well.
Yeah it's really nice to help ^_^ I guess my concern with how much demand there is is that if i open the shop, I'll have to keep my game open and monitor tbt instead of do other things. So it'll be worth it if the service will be used a lot. But I don't want to keep the game open if I'll only get 1 or 2 people in a few hours.

I guess we will have to accept at some point that not all people are nice even if we want to. The limit is fine really. You will have to protect yourself too.

It wasn't a crafting service, per se, but my friend crafted all of the cherry blossom items I didn't own the DIY of, but I provided him with the supplies. I personally wouldn't do it again, mostly because I kinda want the DIY myself and to craft it myself. Maybe it's the completionist part of me.

But I think if I wanted a lot of something and needed help with it like lack of materials, I might use one.

I have used this service before. Sometimes for certain items ( it’s easier to have it built than to actually build it yourself).

It was hard for me too obtain the iron garden chair ( so I bought it ).

It was also hard for me to get ahold of the bonsais, so I bought the crafting service from another player.

i’m gonna chime in since i have my own crafting service. i cant tell you how the interest has been lately since my thread’s been closed for a few days but here’s what i know:

- you will not receive as much traffic as you would if you were a catalog service which could either be a blessing or a curse depending on how you deal with a bunch of people at once.

- you will receive interest, however, since you have a fair amount of diys available but the amount of traffic you receive will fluctuate - some days, you won’t craft for anybody at all and the next you’ll have to craft for like 3 people in a row

- if you do decide to go ahead with this, a piece of advice i can offer you is unless you’re using your own materials, make sure your customers are aware that they must provide the materials and have that piece of info at the top of your thread or even in the title. people see the word “free” and go brainless so it’s best to be as clear as possible to avoid confusion

- it’s best to have a limit as to how many things people can request at first - this might slow down your traffic a bit as my thread didn’t become super used until i removed the limit but this is to help you ease into it a bit. but if you choose not to have a limit, make sure you’re okay with big orders - most people won’t request that much but then you’ll get the occasional request for 20+ items and it can be stressful lmao
