Are bridges irrelevant now?

Okay so I have terraforming and I'm kind of going a bit nuts with it, just trying to figure out how I want things. And you can build a partway with the waterscaping tool across the river. So would that basically make the 100k bell bridges pointless beside for asthetic effect when you can just make a free bridge across the river?

Yeah aside from aesthetic and your town rating they don't matter functionality wise. Maybe you can still get 5 stars with no bridges and just a lot of inclines? I'm guessing you'd need at least one bridge if not more to get the 5 star rating though.

I still make bridges because it's aesthetically unappealing to cut off the flow of my rivers. Also, I wonder if it effects how the game recognizes what type of body of water it is? Idk, I mostly just do it cause it's prettier lol.

I wouldn't say irrelevant, I'd rather cross bridges than have to pull out a tool every time I wanted to cross a river. But I'm lazy and stuff. But it's all up to the player imo
She says irrelevant because with terraforming you don't need bridges.

I think that depends on how big the size of the remaining body of water is, though I think stuff like river mouths and waterfalls should behave the same, regardless of how much space they take. Even then, the fish spawns are still a bit wonky even without terraforming (imo) since you can sometimes find river fish in ponds.

i dont think bridges have become redundant or irrelevant.
while you can build a land bridge or stepping stones across a river, it doesnt have the same aesthetic appeal as an actual bridge. also, im too impatient to wait the extra 1 second delay from jumping across a stepping stone which is a pretty pathetic reason but that rly does drive me wild lmaoo

Shoot. I didn't think of the town rating. I have no idea if how many you have affected the rating.

Ahri you have a point. I mean saving money on bridges might be nice for someone who is always broke I like I am but it could be tedious going extra steps to cross a river when you could just build a bridge and be done with it.

I went back to where I made my natural bridge and it does look ridiculous. >.<

I guess.... but I don't see why anyone would choose to do that considering it looks pretty bad. Stepping stones seem fine but calling bridges irrelevant is a stretch
she said "pointless beside for asthetic effect"

I did call them irrelevant. I just didn't know what other word to use. Vocab is not me. XD

I have not seen any of my villagers sitting on the bridges. But it is something I wanna see.

It's legit in the title. And you just explained why she said irrelevant. Like what is your goal? I'm just responding to the thread.
i'm talking about in her description how she said it was irrelevant BESIDES the aesthetic affect. you used that as your argument so i pointed out that she said the same thing as well... so you two are on the same side... that was my goal, lol.

No worries! I completely get what you mean. I think the only usage would be for the rating, yeah.

I have 5 bridges on my island, and they are all perfectly relevant. Yes, you can stop up the rivers, but I left mine the way they were, so I'd have to constantly pull my vaulting pole out. Plus, I'm not sure how villagers navigate without bridges or inclines. I know I didn't see them on the other side of the river or on the cliffs until I had completed the structures.

I personally love bridges. They have a good aesthetic for your town plus it saves up a space for another item since you won't need the vaulting pole to get across rivers.

Being able to have temporary land bridges while I save up bells for a bridge since I hate constantly switching to a vaulting pole is great! Aesthetically not so much, but it serves its purpose until I can afford to get rid of it :O bridges are no longer a necessity to make a shortcut so you dont need to run all the way to the other side of town to go over the bridge to access the other half of town, which I'm super glad for!
