I don't think I am the only one that wish this game was bigger than the Gamecube version right? I don't think Nintendo has push this game to its limit like some recently release game (Pokemon Sun & Moon).

I truly believe the 3ds can handle 15+ villagers + 4 player houses and 30+ acres of land along with more buildings and shops. Something along the line of 20 villagers and 4 players with 35 acres of land compare to the 20 acres of land that is currently.

10 villagers is still too low of a number to feel like a proper small town. I go by the saying "The more, the merrier" and I think it ring true in these type of game.

Thoughts? Do you agree or disagree with me and why?

The NX would be the perfect time to expand on Animal Crossing villages. It'll probably be a lot easier for the NX to handle it than the 3DS, plus it'll be in fabulous HD.

I think more villagers would only be good if there were either more personality types or more dialogue. having 2 villagers of the same personality feels repetitive enough, can't imagine more.
otherwise, yeah, I do think the game could be bigger.

we need the nerd personality. it would fit with ones like derwin. they'll just geek about things like comic books and video games and stuff like that. maybe some kind of tsundere-like personality for the females to match the male personality? i agree with you, dialogue can get repetitive when you have multiple of the same personality.

I definitely agree more could've been done but we also need to consider that the game came out nearly 4 years ago. That was pretty close to the time the 3ds first came out so the technology might not have been tested to it's maximum efficiency as well as it has been now. Im sure what was included in the update recently wasn't even possible until more recent years.

Yes, this is exactly what I am hoping for. It was so much fun and more immersive playing City Folk on the Wii and I've been waiting for another larger format game. If anyone has see the little trailer BitBlock put together, that's about what I'm imagining if it went to NX.

I agree but I also feel that is expected since it a home console. The NX being a portable system is really cool but it will still be bigger than the 3DS XL. I feel the portability of the NX is akin to those of a tablet versus a large phone.

I don't think the small size of the town has anything to do with the hardware. I'm sure the 3DS is more than capable of handling a few extra acres. I think the developers wanted to keep the towns small so people wouldn't have to spend a ton of time running from place to place like in the Gamecube version. The villager limit is kind of a bummer, but I think it was by design to keep the game more intimate rather than have half of your villagers neglected most of the time. A 15 villager limit would have also caused problems with the lack of villager personalities since you could have like 5 villagers saying the same stuff. So I don't think it's a hardware thing; I just think it's a decision by the developers to keep the game intimate and pack as much as they can into small area of land instead of having the focus on being a landscaping game with a ton of land to fill.

Maybe they could give players an option for map size so that players can pick what they want, but I don't see Animal Crossing going back to the 30 acre days of the Gamecube version.

I agree, NL is a great game but the dialogue sucks tbh, it's cute but there's not enough of it so it gets repetitive and the only way more than 10 villagers would work is if there were more personalities or more dialogue. The GC version had 15 villagers, but lots and lots of dialogue so it didn't get repetitive to talk to the villagers.

In my opinion, while I respect yours, I like having only 10 villagers and I like smaller towns. Having to talk to so many villagers and run errands for them, looking everyone in the town, would bore me quickly.

I agree, I believe they should allow more villagers and more land in the game. I miss the hill/mountain like they had in the GameCube and Wii version. I really like that and if they would have added a second level to what they have I would be happy with New Leaf.

Though I am not upset we have a game that they are still updating and we are still enjoying.

I think 10 villagers is fine, or 12 at the max. I think minding too many villagers would become burdensome. That's why I had to stop playing tomodachi life because I had too many people to take care of and I lost enjoyment in the game.

But I agree about more shops!!

I like having more than 10 villagers because it stimulate real life more closely. Think about this, you don't like having more villagers because it a chore for you but what if you don't need to talk to all of your villagers? Just like in real life, there are plenty of neighbors I never talked to. Having 20 villagers just mean your town is more alive regardless if you talk to them or not. Regardless if they move out or not. If that make sense?

In theory I like the idea of having more villagers, you would be able to have more dreamies and see more cute houses but I can't keep up with 10 villagers tbh, I always end up neglecting a few villagers and sometimes forget who I have. If only we could set a limit on how much our town filled up. I wish there was more dialog and that we could do more than deliver items or go pick up some fruit or furniture for our villagers. More customisation would be good and more shops, i'm not sure what type of shops but I want more haha.

The Switch could be good for this, even though considering it's a hybrid home/handheld console. It's rumored to be about as powerful as the PS4, so we can imagine what kind of things it can do for series such as Animal Crossing, Metroid or F-Zero.

I agree, the towns feel kind of small, especially when you've been playing since release. It sucks they couldn't of at least made them the same size as City Folk towns. City Folk towns felt pretty big and barren to me.

GameCube - 30 acres
City Folk - 25 acres
New Leaf - 20 acres
Wild World - 16 acres

And I would loooove to have more villagers!

I agree that I wish it should be bigger but I'm not sure if the 3DS could handle it extremely well. The New 3DS probably could but with it being a 4 year old game I don't think the normal 3DS would be able to handle it that well. Like I've seen most people say the Switch will probably be our answer to this wish with it's superior power, and basically everything.

No point having more villagers if they're all practically clones of each other at this point. We desperately need more depth in their personalities! The snooties & crankies must be returned to their former glory, and ALL the villager types need a major boost in dialogue options. If I hear my smug mention cucumbers one more damn time, I'm going to lose my mind. If they fixed that issue, I'd love having 15 villagers like in GC version. Having that many in GC version made the town feel very lively.

Putting villagers aside though, yeah a larger map would be kinda cool I guess. I don't actually mind the map size we currently have, but I wouldn't object to it being bigger. We'll see what happens with the new console.
