I want to get through Black finally and thought a nuzlocke might be fun. I had a trial run this morning but died at the first gym. (Stupid monkey) So I'm on my second run and I've got a Level 12 Oshawott named Joshua and a Level 10 Lillipup named Princess.

Come join in if you'd like!

Rules of a Nuzlocke Run are:

1. You can only catch the first Pokemon you meet on a route.

2. Any Pokemon who faints is considered dead and must be released or put in a Graveyard box.

3. All Pokemon must be nicknamed!

4. Legendaries and given pokemon are off limits. (Even that monkey at the beginning. Good luck with the first gym.)

Sounds like fun <3

I love the idea of a Nuzlocke, makes it challenging and interesting, but whenever I try to do one, I end up giving up and just playing it regular because it ends up feeling like "Too much work"

Though I have heard that Nuzlockes can be altered to be more challenging or easier.
Such as "Cannot use healing items, only Pokemon centers"
"Cannot use Pokemon Centers, only healing items"
And tons of other things you can change around.

That's what I read on Bulbapedia at least.

Oh gosh there's no way I can complete that. x.x
Heal up all you want, in any way you want !

Nuzlocke eh? Sounds very interesting. I never completed Black or White... maybe I'll give this a shot. Or not. I dunno :p

I'd love to, I'd probably just forget I was doing a Nuzlocke and I wouldn't remember until the credits after the Hall of Fame.

I've decided I'm gonna do it with you! I don't even remember which one I own... (I think it's white). Are we gonna keep eachother updated on progress and stuff like that? Because I think that would make the experience much more interesting. I just wish I could make a fun comic like some of the people I've seen after researching this Nuzlocke stuff. :p

I'm starting tonight! :D

PROGRESS REPORT:

I've beaten the first gym and acquired the Trio Badge. My pokemon:

Monty (Level 14 Snivy)
Ana (Level 12 Lillipup)

Deceased:

Leyla (Level 11 Purloin (lv 5-11)) - Killed by Chili's first pokemon; a critical hit :/

I'm having fun with it so far! :D

ALSO:

Incase anyone is really interested... I also just started a Pokemon Red Nuzlocke Challenge. I'm playing it on a gameboy emulator on my smart phone (so I can play it at work)! Working my way up to Brock currently:

Jacques (Level 10 Bulbasaur)
Vincent (Level 8 Spearow)
Sheila (Level 6 Weedle)

Deceased:

Randy (Rattata Level 2-3) Fragile little guy. I was careless with him. :(

I always did Nuzlocke in all the past games, still I need to do it in B/W

You should do it nowwww!!! :p We need Nuzlocke buddies!!!

My progress now:

I beat the second gym and I'm in Pinwheel Forest chasing down those dirty Team Plasma grunts.

Pokemon:

Monty (Level 20 Servine)
Ana (Level 20 Herdier)
Roxie (Level 19 Roggenrola)

Deceased:

Leyla (Lv 11 Purloin)
Raul (Lv 8 Pidove) 100% Max Derpage

Okay you convinced me. I'm doing it too.

Actually I already was doing it, but was almost considering not. But you convinced me :)

Actually, no I'm not going to do the Nuzlocke ^^; sorry. But too many enforced rules removes the fun.

I understand the challenge and such, but I play just for the fun of it, which like I said. The more restrictions the less fun it is.

I dunno if I could complete a Nuzlocke run, they sound fun at first, but then when your first pokemon dies, or almost all of your pokemon die, it's a really big bummer.

I quit almost every time I try, just cause it hurts to lose all my pokemon!

I'm going to start a nuzlocke challenge. I vow not to quit. If I decide to quit I can't play pokemon ever again (gulp).
I'll update this post with my latest info soon.

Nuzlocke Challenge:

Trainer Name: Nuzlock (just in case I forget some day)

Dewott (Splash) - Level 24
Roggenrola (Rocky) - Level 22

Deceased: Patrat (Patty) - level 2 (Route 1), Patrat (Pat) - level 4 (Route 2), Pansear (Sear) - level 10 (Dreamyard), Purrloin (Luxury) - level 9 (Route 3)

Gym Badges: 2

I'm going to sleep for tonight. I'll officially start working on it tomorrow.

UPDATE: went to route 1 and caught the first pokemon I saw, a patrat. I nicknamed it patty. By the time I finished battling N in accumula town Splash became level 9, which I'm very proud of him for. I went back to train Patty and he got criticaled and fainted, so I released him :(. About to start route 2.

UPDATE: I caught the first pokemon I saw on route 2, another patrat which I nicknamed pat, except this time it was level 4. I went back to train it on route 1 and it got criticaled and fainted, so I released it :( (DARN, twice in a row now that that's happened). Heading back to route 2 now.

UPDATE: I made it into Striaton City with Splash ending up being level 11. I'm about to visit the dreamyard, but going to skip getting the monkey from the person since I can't.

UPDATE: I finished the dreamyard and decided to buff Splash up as much as I can to face cheren, that way I won't lose with just one pokemon. Then I'll face the gym and hopefully be able to win it just by having power from a way higher level. Splash is currently level 13 on route 2 so far.

UPDATE: Finally got Splash to level 14. I'm going to research cheren's pokemon levels for when I face him in the school now. Going to make sure I have a really good level advantage before facing him.

UPDATE: I faced Cheren with only Splash at level 14. I used tackle against his snivy which put it down to orange. Snivy used Vine Whip which cut my HP in half. I began to get worried, but when I chose tackle again Splash did a critical and knocked Snivy out. How lucky is that? Then I faced his purrloin. His purrloin did damage too, putting Splash in the red zone. Splash criticaled his purrloin, OHKO'ing it before Splash could be defeated and I won. Splash did two criticals in a row, that was amazing and I'm very proud of him. Going back to route 2 to make him level 15, and then maybe challenge the striaton gym.

UPDATE: Splash finally became level 15 after facing and defeating countless pokemon on route 2. I decided I'm going to spend a really long time just getting him to level 17 so he becomes a dewott. Then I'll be sure to defeat the gym. Time to start by getting him to level 16 first.

UPDATE: After what felt like ages Splash became level 16. Now I just need to level him up once more which will be even harder.

UPDATE: After what felt like even longer than getting to 16 Splash leveled up to 17, learned razor shell, and evolved into a Dewott! Striaton Gym, here I come!

UPDATE: So I swept the first two trainers with razor shell, taking no damage at all. Then I faced Cilan and defeated his Lillipup with a quick, critical razor shell. He sent out Pansage. I used tackle taking him to 3/4 health, STILL in the green zone while his pansage used work up. Then I decided to do a boost of my own and chose Focus Energy. - Insert picture of goku turning into super sayan -. He used Vine Whip which cut Splash's hp in half, still in the green though. I used tackle which wasn't critical even though I used Focus Energy, leaving his Pansage at orange HP. Before I could finish Pansage he used a potion bringing Pansage back to full health. Then I used tackle again, still only leaving him in the green zone again. His pansage used Vine Whip sending Splash down to 14 health. I closed my eyes as his Pansage was about to attack again, but before his Pansage could do anything, Splash ninja speeded at him with one last tackle, landing a critical and defeating Pansage, winning the match. I cheered in joy since I thought I would have to start the challenge all over again. Planning to head to the place I couldn't get to before, and then the dreamyard.

UPDATE: I finished up on Route 2 and went to the dreamyard, easily defeating the Team Plasma Grunt's pokemon. Then I tried to catch the first pokemon I saw in the dreamyard area grass, which was a level 8 patrat. I accidentally OHKO'ed it though with Splash's weakest move. Splash turned to level 18 instead and now I'm on my way to fennel's house.

UPDATE: Unfortunately on route 3 I couldn't get past the twins without having two pokemon, so I had to borrow Pansear (Sear) as a zombie pokemon and then release it back to its grave after the battle. Now I'm going to continue on route 3.

UPDATE: Cheren caught up with me and challenge me to a battle. He sent out Snivy first which fell to a couple of cuts by Splash, cutting plants like its intended purpose. Then he sent out Purrloin and I OHKO'ed it once again with a razor shell this time. Some Team Plasma grunts shoved us out of the way and we heard a pokemon was stolen. Now I'm going to teach the grunts the true meaning of using force.

UPDATE: Before I could get to the caves. the first and only pokemon I could catch on route 3, a level 9 Purrloin, jumped in front of me. Luckily, Splash's cut left it at exactly 1 HP and I caught it, naming it Luxury. Now I'm going to start training it on route 3, and then continue to the caves by the time it's level 12.

UPDATE: Luxury faced off against a Purrloin of the same level and went into a scratch fight with it. Luxury lost when the opposing Purrloin only had 1 HP left, so I released Luxury (ARGHHHH). Splash came in and avenged Luxury by finishing the opposing Purrloin off with a quick razor shell. Now I'm continuing to the caves.

UPDATE: Cheren and I defeated the four Plasma grunts easily and then Cheren went and returned the stolen pokemon. I captured the first pokemon I saw in Wellspring Cave, which was a level 13 Roggenrola. It wasn't like the other pokemon I tried to catch, it was strong enough to reduce Splash's HP by 2/3 before I could catch it by using Headbutt and Sand-attack. I decided to use my only ultra ball I found earlier so I wouldn't fail, and I caught it. Now I'm going to start training it on the way to Nacrene City and then I'll be ready for the gym battle.

UPDATE: I blasted through the rest of route 3 with Rocky's rock blast, and then I explored Nacrene for a little bit. Then I challenged N and beat his Pidove with Rocky, then switching to Splash to defeat his Tympole and Timburr. I noticed that instead of having to use a fighting type pokemon against Lenora that all the guides and stuff suggest, I could use Rocky first who resists normal type moves. Then, when he gets low on health, I could finish Lenora off with Splash. But I'm going to detour to Pinwheel Forest Road first anyway just to level buff Rocky and Splash (And maybe catch a fighting type anyway).

UPDATE: When I first entered the road a person gave me Rock Smash which I taught Rocky how to use. Rock Smash used to be a rock type move I heard, but now since it's a fighting type move Rocky can use it against the normal type gym while still being a rock type to resist normal type moves. I continue to venture through the road.

UPDATE: I finished defeating everyone in the entrance road and decided not to catch another pokemon at all. Both Rocky and Splash are one level above each of Lenora's two pokemon, from bottom to top. Nacrene City Gym, here I come!

UPDATE: I made it through the trainers with Rocky and Splash, and then faced off against Lenora. First I sent out Rocky who defeated her Herdier with a couple of Rock Smashes. Then I switched to Dewott who took the retaliate blow from her Watchog, crippling him to 11 HP in the red zone. I began to close my eyes again like last time, but once again Splash ninja speeded into Watchog with a critical razor shell, defeating it and winning the match. As I was about to celebrate completeing 1/4 of the gyms Team Plasma stole part of a fossil! I'm going to head to Pinwheel Forest now and team up with Burgh to get it back.

UPDATE: I defeated everyone in the forest and successfully returned the dragon skull to Lenora. Then I defeated everyone else in the forest and went across the Sky Bridge. I entered Castelia and healed at the center. Splash and Rocky improved considerly during that time and I'm looking forward to doing everything I can in Castelia City before facing the gym.

UPDATE: I decided that's enough for today. If anyone's interested in how I came this far, just read the above updates. I might decide to play later, but I'm going to switch to watching baseball and playing AC:NL for awhile. See ya!

Sooo I'm assuming that I am not going to be able to use the fossilized pokemon that I recieved last night? :p Darn.

Anyways, I have an update (not nearly as in-depth as yours Ace :p):

I beat Burgh last night and ended my play time in Nimbasa City right before I was about to take a ferris wheel ride with N.

Pokemon:
Monty (Level 28 Servine)
Esteban (Level 26 Swadloon)
Roxie (Level 24 Roggenrola)
Sebastian (Level 23 Sandile)
Trip (Level 22 Yamask)

Deceased:
Leyla (the Purloin)
Raul (the Pidove)
Ana (yes, my beloved Herdier that I've had from the beginning was taken out by Plasma) :(

I've realized I have a thing for Spanish names... they account for more than 1/3 of the total names of all the pokemon I've caught. :p

You lost Ana?

WHY PLASMA WHYYYYYYY

Team Plasma is more evil in a nuzlocke. When they defeat your pokemon it's like they're stealing it too since you have to release it. - Insert picture of Ghetsis grinning evilly -
I'm going to continue my challenge now and post some updates soon.

UPDATE: I explored and did everything I could in Castelia City. Then, Burgh and I fought the Team Plasma grunts and got Bianca's Munna back. Rocky evolved into a Boldore! Yay! Splash got stronger as well. Castelia City Gym, here I come!

Nuzlocke Challenge:

Trainer Name: Nuzlock (Just in case I forget some day)

Samurott (Splash) - level 52
Carracosta (Rocky) - level 52
Swanna (Wing) - level 52
Blue-Striped Basculin (Jet) - level 21

Deceased: Patrat (Patty) - level 2 (Route 1), Patrat (Pat) - level 4 (Route 2), Pansear (Sear) - level 10 (Dreamyard), Purrloin (Luxury) - level 9 (Route 3), Boldore (Rocky) - level 26 (Wellspring Cave), Scraggy (Scrag) - level 16 (Route 4), Minccino (Min) - level 22 (Route 16).

Gym Badges: 8

UPDATE: I swept through all the harlequins using Rocky's power gem first. Then I took out Burgh's Whirlipede with Rocky's power gem. Leavanny came out and used Razor Leaf, leaving Rocky at one hp because of his sturdy ability. Rocky used power gem, leaving Leavanny at one hp. Leavanny used Razor Leaf again and knocked out Rocky, so I had to release him (UGHHHH, I worked so hard on him!). Splash used cut to avenge Rocky, and Leavanny fainted. Dwebble came out and Splash finished it with a Water Pulse.

I'm really sad that Rocky is gone forever. He will be missed. Now I'm on my way to battle Biance with just Splash once again, and then head to Nimbasa City.

UPDATE: I beat Bianca and then continued to Route 4. The first pokemon I saw and caught was a level 16 Scraggy that I named Scrag. Then I battled Cheren. I easily took out his Pidove with Splash's Water Pulse. Then I switched to Scrag and lowered Servine's health before Scrag fainted, so I released Scrag afterwards. I finished Servine off with Splash, and then I finished off his Pansage and Liepard with multiple Revenge attacks. Now I continue to venture towards Nimbasa City.

UPDATE: I explored the Relic Castle and caught the first pokemon I saw in it, a level 21 Yamask which I named Mask. I finished up there and then entered Nimbasa City, defeating the grunts. Now I'm going to explore Nimbasa City while training Yamask, and hopefully defeat the gym (even though Splash has a huge disadvantage, I miss Rocky).

UPDATE: I finished exploring Nimbasa City, and then headed over to Route 16. I caught the first pokemon I saw, a level 19 Minccino, which I named Min. I finished exploring Route 16 and Lostlorn Forest, but then Min fainted from a battle, so I released it. I thought to myself there's no way I'm going to beat the gym, so I rode my bicycle all the way back to the museum where Lenora's gym is. I turned the cover fossil into a level 25 Tirtouga (Using one of my mercy optional rules), which I named Rocky (In honor of the first Rocky). I rode my bicycle all the way back to the gym and defeated all the trainers with Rocky and Splash. Then I went back and healed at the center. Gym Leader Elesa, here I come!

UPDATE: I decided to stop myself and train Rocky with Audinos first, since it still might be pretty hard to win. I'm going to train him so that I don't fail.

UPDATE: I sent out Rocky against her first Emolga. Her Emolga (thankfully) used Pursuit, leaving Rocky at 61 HP from 71. Rocky used an Ancient Power, leaving her Emolga in the orange. Her Emolga used Volt Switch, sending Rocky down to 11 HP. As her new Emolga came out, Rocky delivered a critical Ancient Power, OHKO'ing it. I switched to Splash as she sent her first emolga back out and used Aqua Jet, defeating it. Then her Zebstrika came out and used Spark, leaving Splash at 49 HP. Splash quickly dug underground. Her Zebstrika missed since he was underground. Then Splash came up and hit Zebstrika with Dig, OHKO'ing it. I got the badge and now I'm on my way to Route 5.

UPDATE: Before heading to Route 5, I decided to audino train Splash a level, and he evolved into Samurott! Yay! Now I'm heading to Route 5.

UPDATE: Cheren caught up with me from behind and challenged me to a battle. Splash used Slash multiple times, defeating Purrloin, Servine, and Panpour. By the time Tranquill was about to come out, Splash was at 8 HP in the red zone, so I switched to Rocky and finished off his last pokemon with an OHKO Ancient Power. Then we battled some toddlers while talking to Alder. Now I'm going to explore Route 5 more, and then continue on my way to Driftveil City.

UPDATE: I finished exploring and went onto the bridge. The first pokemon I saw and caught on the bridge was a level 25 Ducklett, which I named Wing. I'm going to explore Driftveil City, and then chase after Team Plasma in the Cold Storage.

UPDATE: I finished clearing the trainers and team plasma grunts out of the cold storage. Driftveil City Gym, here I come!

UPDATE: I beat all the challengers and then faced off against Clay. First he sent out his Krokorok, which Splash defeated with a Water Pledge. Then his Excadrill came out. Splash dug underground. Excadrill tried to attack, but missed since Splash was underground. Splash came up and hit Excadrill, sending him to the orange. Clay used a hyper potion on Excadrill, while Splash did a not very effective Slash. Splash dug underground after taking a hit from Excadrill. Splash came up and hit Excadrill, defeating it. Splash was left at 22 HP out of 122, so I switched out to Wing for his Palpitoad. Wing used a couple Air Slashes, reducing Palpitoad's HP before Wing was at 11 HP. I switched to Rocky and got hit by a Muddy Water, leaving him at 43 out of 78 HP. Rocky tried to use Brine, but missed! Another Muddy Water hit Rocky, leaving him at 7 HP in the red zone. I thought Rocky was gone forever, but then GOGOGOGOGOGOGOGO CRITICAL BRINE! Palpitoad was defeated, I won the match!

UPDATE: I faced off against Bianca. First, I OHKO'ed her Herdier with a critical Water Pledge from Splash. Then I switched to Wing and OHKO'ed her Pansage with an Air Slash. Then I used Air Slash on her Pignite, leaving it in the orange. Her Pignite used Take down, critically leaving Wing in the red zone. I switched to Rocky and used another critical brine? Amazing! Her Pignite fainted. I switched out to Splash and defeated her Musharna with a couple Water Pledges, got the move fly, and I'm done playing for the day! See ya!

UPDATE: I explored all of Route 6 and Chargestone Cave. Then I beat N easily and explored all of Mistralton City. I'm about to head for Route 7 and Celestial Tower. Rocky evolved into a Carracosta! Yay! And Wing is about to evolve into a Swanna. Also, Splash, Rocky, and Wing's levels improved considerably during that time.

UPDATE: I finished exploring Route 7 and Celestial Tower. I rung the bell too. Rocky, Splash, and Wing's level are at their finest, being at least 5 levels above Skyla's toughest pokemon. Mistralton City Gym, here I come!

UPDATE: I swept through the trainers and Skyla, winning the badge with no problems. That's all I'm going to do for today, but I might play more later. See ya!

UPDATE: I finished exploring Twist Mountain, Routes 16, 17, and Icirrus City. I swept through the gym battle with Rocky's Smack Down. That's all I'm going to do for today, but I might play more later. See ya!

UPDATE: I explored DragonSpiral Tower and watched N leave on Reshiram (Although I could easily have taken it out with Rocky). Then I explored all of Relic Castle, got the Dark Stone, and now I'm done playing for the day. See ya!

UPDATE: I explored Route 8, the Moor of Icirrus, Tubeline Bridge, Route 9, and Opelucid City. I faced off against Iris and swept her with Rocky's Blizzard. It's time to head to the pokemon league!

UPDATE: I finished exploring Route 10 and Victory Road. I'm about to enter the pokemon league elite four with a mono-type water team. I caught a basculin in victory road for sacrifice purposes. I'll post movesets soon. Elite Four, here I come!
