Anyone think there should be fewer features locked behind Nintendo Online?

I'd be down for that to be honest. As it is, people you play with online have no way of communicating with you if you friend them. What's the point of that? Just hope you're both online at the same time with the same game and have physic powers?

Acnh online plus free dlc d u h
I'm paying Nintendo so I can use my internet that I already pay for to connect with someone else through their wifi that they already pay for. I'm just confused lol.

Also, free "dlc" aka things that should have already been in the game but they pushed the game out before it was ready to be released and are trying to hide that fact. At least they didn't go full stupid and charge for those additions.

I never played Pocket Camp, but has anyone here played it when it first came out? I'm curious if the amount of stuff in PC 5 months after it was released is less, more, or about the same from the stuff that NH has. It's been 5 months since the game came out. Almost half a year.

Miiverse ur paying for Miiverse's return

I was kind of jesting about the Miiverse return thing even though it would be cool, but then I realized something. WiiU and 3DS gave us Nintendo's own social media account with free online and now with paid online we don't even have a proper way to communicate with the Switch. Nintendo's solution to this is to use your smart-phone and download a specific game communication app. Not everyone is going to have a smart-phone. I don't have one. And it's a lot of jumping through hoops when there are easier ways.

I now use discord to chat with friends when we're playing. Nintendo really failed.

i've played pocket camp since launch. i don't remember how much was in it at launch but while i'm going to say less (equal, maybe, if you meant furniture though), it is important to note that it's a mobile game and so it was never going to have most of the features a main series game does/should a la the museum, fossils, donating, encyclopedias, y'know.

but, on the flip side, despite being a mobile game, it does currently introduce better furniture/clothing than new horizons and introduces vastly more at a much quicker rate. yes, some of it is locked behind a paywall (which i hate) but the majority of it is available for free and even the P2P stuff can be obtained by F2P players albeit with more difficulty.

as of today you can also change your player name once a month too, which surprisingly isn't a feature in NH.

i agree. I was really ticked off to find out that i needed a subscription for the qr code feature was was free for HHD and NL. I know this is a whole new system and gaming business is constantly changing with the new consoles, but I still don’t like it. Right now even $19.99 is too much for me because of my RL circumstances but fortunately I found a gift card with just enough to be able to afford it. Still, yeah. I’m no fan of subscription requiring content or even dlc that isn’t free.

Wow... I just... nevermind don't want to get into it.

My feelings on the topic are: Xbox has an online fee. PS4 has an online fee. In a perfect world the online fees wouldn't exist but they do. Nintendo isn't doing anything different than the other gaming companies. I'm happy it's cheaper than the others. I recently stopped paying for my Playstation plus because I'm never on it. Would rather pay for Nintendo online since I do a lot of trading and such.

I rather pay Animal Crossing's paywall than Pokemon's paywall any day that's for sure.

I don't have much of an opinion on this topic, I pay basically nothing for my online as I share a family plan with some online friends and their friends. Though, online isn't the best and the NES/SNES they provide are titles I wouldn't rush to play (Would really love some gameboy/gamecube games instead please), it's at least better than the competitors in my opinion.

I just want to download others' custom designs. I am bad at making these and there's so many people much more talented at it than me. Why do I need a subscription for this? :(

That's the difficult part. :p
I meant to add that even finding one other person will save you $2.50. It's $20 per year solo, $35 per "family" of 7.
