Thanks for all the replies everyone! I ended up just resetting the town I was unsure of, and will keep in mind the thought of getting a third copy. Maybe it'll go on sale sometime, which will make it easier xD

I wish I had more than the town I already own. That way, I wouldn't have to depend on others to obtain my dreamies. But well, I don't have money to buy several copies of the same game.
Yeah, money is huge factor in it. I think my second copy I got on sale, so it wasn't so bad, but I don't remember my reason for getting it. Luckily there are lots of lovely people cycling who give villagers away! I always check here and on Tumblr.

I'm thinking of getting another to do a cycling town, buuuuuuut who knows
I used my second copy to cycle, since it was digital and my main town wasn't. I used it to get all of my dreamies, and just borrowed my sister's 3ds to move them in. It definitely helps having access to more than one 3ds, and cycling is pretty fun and useful at times!

I've 4 copies, three are my normal towns and one is my cycle town.
How do you manage your 3 normal towns?

I have three towns. I say go for it if you want more towns!
I got my first town, then I really wanted to meet new characters/play with different design and so on so I bought a second copy, I justified by thinking hey I can interact between towns/move characters and such -- forgot I would need 2 3ds hah.
So I bought the third copy (and second 3ds) when I visited the USA, handy as I can now experience USA events and such so it's different subtly to my other towns plus I keep it on the original time zone from when I played it so it's different to my UK towns.
I regularly play my first and third towns, purely because it's easy as they're on separate 3ds. My second town is a bit neglected but I do like to pick it up now and then.
So yes I say go for it, it's great having more than one town!
Thank you for the feedback! I'm going to keep it in mind for a little while and try to get the tw otowns I have now moving along in development first. That'll give me lots of time to think of town ideas n_n

I don't think I would feel so attached to the new town if I had two copies, so no, I don't. I can't really justify the cost of buying the game again, either.
Yeah, it's usually hard for me to justify spending
any money. But I have a bad habit of justifying video game-related things. My priorities need sorting, lol. I bought my second copy on sale, though, so I'm thinking if it goes on sale again I might consider a third. But yeah, I def understand not justifying the cost!

I have four ACNL cartridges, one 3DS XL, and one New 3DS XL. I focus most of my attention to the first two towns--takes about an hour, or two, daily.
The first cartridge became a perfect town. Unlocked every PWP and got all the town villagers' pictures.
Bought the second cartridge to establish a weed town, but it evolved into another perfect town (gold watering can farm).
Started the third town--enacted the bell boom ordinance and it is my weed town and gold rose farm.
Decided to buy the fourth for time-traveling experiments and it also serves as a hybrid flower overflow site.
I would recommend owning multiple copies. For me, it provides additional display/storage space, potential item availability (Redd, Sahara, GracieGrace), opportunity to meet new villagers, and a safety net for favorite villagers.
I've honestly never really thought to use towns as storage! I used my second copy to cycle for a while, but I get this need to develop a town and would always reset it and try to design something new. But i like the thought of having one to keep flowers and extra items, especially since my main town rn is covered in items i don't have room for x-x

I don't have 3 New Leaf towns, but I am running 3 towns at the moment: 1 Wild World and 2 New Leaf.
I never had wild world, i always played my younger sisters lol. I was running a City Folk town for a while, but I had a problem enjoying the game on a wii
