Anyone know how to reset Nintendogs?

I've just bought Nintendogs for the 3DS online second hand and I just want to reset it and start from the beginning. Does anyone know how I can do this?

everyone seems to say this is how you do it, but ivenever tried it myself so I wouldnt know if it was genuine. its worth a shot tho.
