Anyone here made an extra character just for the extra strorage?

yeah i have a second character for several reasons, more storage, more items from special characters and i thought i could use it for more design spaces before i created it but turns out you share design slots, which sucks but oh well ):

Not at first. I made an extra character so I could build a cafe. It’s been months now since I made my alt and I haven’t done much interior decorating at all... so now he’s used as storage 😅

I have more than one character (5 actually) but I didn’t make them just for extra storage. I rotate through playing each one. Meaning I play as my first character today, my second character tomorrow etc. It’s actually a lot of fun and I enjoy decorating each house in a different way. I know most people don’t play this way and that’s fine.

In New Leaf I had a second character just for a second house to decorate and I didn’t really like it as I never played as him. I much prefer playing as each of my characters now in New Horizons.

my second one is mostly to just have a second home to decorate with more of a 'theme' and also so I can double up on Redd paintings/statues, but I haven't played with him in a while lol. somehow storage isn't too much of a problem for me but I'm sure eventually I'll find myself using it haha

Yup, I also made a second character for storage. I somewhat recently flattened most of my island, and to make things easier on myself, I created another character to help me efficiently clean up existing furniture. It worked out really well, and I still have this character as of right now, but I am unsure if I will keep their house permanently.

I made 7 additional characters actually, hitting the cap of 8. Partly to get as much storage space as possible because I'm a terrible hoarder, partly so I could get more use out of all the cool Saharah wallpapers and floorings, and partly because my island's theme has to do with history and the various cultures of the world. I had a bunch of ideas for characters and there are even still character ideas who just didn't make the cut.

That's a lot of characters! Sounds like a fun way to play though. Maybe I'll start doing that too once my first character starts running out of things to achieve... I currently can't bring myself to hunt for stuff with the other player because it won't count towards my totals :D

Does rotating through them make the villagers always talk about not having seen them for a while? Mine already bring my second character up daily...

It is definitely a lot of fun. Especially if you make each character have their own look and personality.

As for villagers saying they haven’t seen you in awhile. I find as long as I make sure to talk to each one each time I play as said character it doesn’t happen as often. Only time it happens often is when I take a break from playing for a few days to a week, but that happens even if you only have one character.

Even when they do mention it it doesn’t really bother me. Their dialogue goes back to normal anyways after the initial conversation.

Wow 8 total characters that’s impressive! I had ideas for 8 on my themed island but ended up sticking to 5 as I found that to be the sweet number for me.

I am a little sad I won’t get to make the other 3 characters I had imagined (I actually had 6 additional character ideas total that I didn’t use). But I still really like the 5 characters that I do have.

I had a semi-broken Switch Lite that I just never sent in for repair. So I got a second copy and have been using that for storage... It's SO nice not to have my island clogged up with disorganized hybrids.

Having this new character made me feel nostalgic about the early days on the island where everything is such a grind. And I just realized that I need a lot of bells. Now my main character is bankrupt. XD

I have a second character, but she mainly exists so I can play as a cute girl, less for storage (though she does have stuff like balloons from the last fireworks, as I didn't know Nook's Cranny would start selling that stuff).

I should consider really making a third character just for storage, now that I've seen this thread…

I created a second character and reserved a section of my island just for them for three reasons.

One, to give myself a way to do interior design experiments without ruining my original house's design aesthetics...

Two, so I could minimize boredom and burnout by giving myself a new area to play...

And three, so I can maximize my storage!

What happened was that I kept getting pieces of furniture and recipes that were really interesting, but didn't fit the feel that I was going for in terms of both my home and island.

They kept piling up until I eventually caved and created a second account and gave the second character the items I had been hoarding away.

I got a new house to play with, a new section of my island to decorate and terraform, and I got to clear out my inventory!

I'm planning to make a tea garden and tea house at some point, so will probably end up making a second character for that (and am looking forward to the extra storage already ;-; )

I haven't felt the need to make a new character yet, I've still plenty of storage space. I don't like the idea of cluttering up the island with extra characters just for that purpose.

I have a second character for two reasons, neither for storage though.

1. For my campsite aesthetics I'm keeping their house at the tent stage and I've put it in my campsite area.

2. When Redd comes and there's two real art pieces I don't have I can buy both. This has come in handy a few times already!

I have five characters - me, three important OCs, and one facility character. Mostly for the houses, but the extra storage is definitely needed now that I have so many models and event items.

I haven't done this, but I'm definitely tempted to ;v; I've had some ideas for what to do with a second character's house anyway, so maybe in the future...
