i have loads of dirt patches all over my town.
they look really bad and i want to get them covered with grass again.
what do you think is the best way to do this? o uo
or, do you have and tips / tricks?

right now i just have flowers all over every one of them,
(almost.. there's seriously so many.)
and have been trying my best to remember to water them everyday.

this process is taking so long tho and i'm scared i might not be doing it right because i have noticed no progress. </3

It can take up to a few weeks for it to start slowly regenerating. Keep trying, but if there's no improvement after a few months, there actually very little we can do for you.

Also some patches are dirt patches by default, they will never grow grass no matter how much you try.
Sorry if one or more of those patches is one of them.

Yeah, any dirt patch that existed upon the start of the game is a dirt patch that will not ever grow grass. I think this is because dirt paths need a place to "start" and those patches are starting points. What you can do now, if you don't mind TT, is moving backward about a month, watering all of the outside flowers (do NOT walk on the flowers, this will eliminate this effect), and then moving forward to the present. This works for me. Any patches with no progress after that are those patches that will never grow grass.

If you're willing to time travel...
1) Set ordinance as 'Beautiful town' to avoid weeds and wilted flowers
2) Time travel just 1 month forward
3) Your grass will be restored, so just TT again 1 month back, and it'll still be there

- There will be a few dirt patches that were there by default when you created your town

Basically everything the people above said, other than that, flowers and trees help, if you don't play your game for a month that would also work, or just only walk where you want there to be dirt for a month

Or, if you don't want to tt cover it with flowers and don't walk on it, if it's not a permanent dirt patch it should grow back in a few weeks. :)

The time traveling will fix it. I'd just add that you should wait till a villager pings, deny that request and save right before you time travel forward. Don't want to lose a villager over a little grass:)

Second this. I tt all the time to fix the grass, so can confirm it works. But you want to make sure you dont lose a favorite villager in the process.

Water the edges of the patches only! If you even walk over the flowers to water the ones in the middle, it will nullify the effect. In fact, it's best to just avoid the patches all together. Whenever a villager has left in the past, I've just lined the area where their house used to be with flowers and left it alone. You'll begin to see improvement in a week, significantly in two, full regrowth in about a month.

That's a good idea. When someone moves out, I actually plant trees if I can with flowers in between. It grows back much faster - probably because the trees prevent me from walking through that area! But this only works for patching small areas. I think that time travel is the best way to bring back the whole town.

i didn't know you couldn't walk on them either. i thought it was just a running thing.

Plants trees, put flowers and water them every day, and enjoy the rain/snow ~

Planting bushes REALLY help in re growing the grass. I saw improvement in the grass about two weeks in ^^
