So Leonardo has been and left my town and now he's stalking my shop area like everyday why won't he leave.

Villagers from the void will visit your main street. He is not in your town anymore, no worries.

He will be , He'll disappear once some more villagers have left.

It's just the game's way of telling you that he's still being stored in your game's memory.. This means that you would be unable to go adopt him from another person's town to come to you (you might not want to with Leonardo, but maybe with a lost dreamy) .. After 16 villagers have moved out after him, he won't appear on your Main Street anymore
