Anyone else had a visitor wear inappropriate clothes?

So, the explanation. I had someone come to my island for a transaction. They were nice enough, but they had a really disturbing word on their shirt that I found really gross. My question is, has anyone else had this problem?? It doesn’t have to be just swear words, just anything that made you uncomfortable. Also, should I report them? I don’t know, I’m super torn.

I guess it depends on what the word was? If it was a word that AC wouldn't allow but isn't too big of a deal- like genitals or a curse word or something, I wouldn't report. But if it was a problematic word (I think most people know what words I'm talking about) I would report.

Idk, I haven't encountered a problem like that. I suppose it's hard to say since I haven't had it happen to me. Tbh, if it bugs you, you should report because it most likely would make others uncomfortable as well. I understand it may be difficult since you said they seem nice enough, but if the word really was that bad... idk man, they might not be that nice xD

I haven’t yet, unless you count wearing the royal crown lol I know that’s not inappropriate at all—and I feel bad judging—but after the duping scandal I was vaguely uncomfortable with people showing up decked out like that xD

Whether to report them or not...I can’t really say since I don’t know what word it was (I’ll admit to being extremely curious). I think I would if it were a racial or sexual slur.

i agree. i would say don't report if it was just a curse word or dirty joke, but if it was like, a slur, then most definitely report.

I don’t think someone’s account should be banned because you didn’t like what was on their shirt. I just wouldn’t invite that person to my island again. You’re gonna come across many people that wear shirts with bad words on them to be funny or as a joke.

I’ve seen people with custom designs to look like they’re nude so I would rather report that than someone with a word on their shirt.

Pretty much the same as other folks have said. I don’t play much with ppl I don’t know irl so I haven’t personally had this problem, but if it’s bad it’s bad and they shouldn’t be going around to other islands like that!

Press "-" to report the player. There should be an option there. (or maybe you have to view the passport first before doing so) I'm not personally the type to report players so I might misremember a few things but there IS a report button!

Curse words? Debatable. If it was racist or homophobic or just outright insulting, don't blink twice. Report ASAP.

I’ve never experienced anything like that before tbh. If it was a word relating to a hate crime then I’d definitely report it. If it was just a general swear or rude word I’d probably message the player privately and just voice my concerns. AC is a game for all ages and many kids play it. Whilst I’m not saying that the game should be wrapped up in cotton wool to be 100% suitable for kids - truth is you just don’t know who you’re dealing with when playing online, kids or people who just find that type of language offensive. And especially if you’re going to someone else’s town, you should be polite and respectful in all areas. And this includes wearing appropriate clothing.

I had a visitor wear a hat that made me feel a little bit uncomfortable, because it showed that they had very different political views to me - but the person was otherwise pleasant and well behaved, so I thought, 'Well, people are allowed to have different opinions to me'.

Without knowing the word, it is hard to judge what action I would take. If it is a mild swear word, I would take no action. If it is a bigoted slur, I would report it. If it is something political - pro life vs pro choice, Trump vs Bernie, atheist vs believer, I'd let it go.

Edit: There are very different views on what's appropriate, so your idea of a bad word might be different to mine. If the word that makes you uncomfortable: LGBTQIA pride related (trans, gay, lesbian), relating to disability (physical or mental), relating to race, or something else that wouldn't have been polite dinner table discussions in the 1950s, but is commonly acceptable to discuss now, then maybe just accept that you are more conservative in your politics than this person, and block them.

You all make great points. It wasn't racist or homophobic (thank goodness) but it was really sexist/sexual (specifically towards a coward or a woman). Thank you all for the input, it really helps out.

I’m the opposite.

I’d much sooner report someone for hostile/insulting/discriminatory language than nudity.
