Anyone else getting some mad lag?

I get lag in one area. It showed up when I added the land rover. However, I think the real problem is the UFO in the background. I think anything that has constant movement can cause lag. I bet if I were to replace the UFO with something else, it wouldn't lag. However, it's just one area, and only when I run past it, so I'm not worrying about it.

I do wish Nintendo would fix the problem.

My island isn’t complete yet, since I reset (for the tHIRD time) but I never got any lag. Maybe I just didn’t place enough items, to experience lag or even frame rate drops, but...
Okay update: I went to @dizzy bone ’s dream and I did experience some frame rate drops, no lag though.

Time to change my comment to “sorry for the frame rate drop” 😂😂

When I play my own island I experience some pop ins but only lag around my urban areas, as @Dunquixote mentioned. It stops lagging once I visit that area a couple times. Just lots of furniture stacked on top of each other that causes the issue. Time of day also affects it I think. I experience almost zero lag at night. I also heard online visits lag more than when you play your own island so idk 😂 I’ve gotten used to the pop ins and frame rate drops in mine but I wouldn’t change my island much for online play.

What if we can't forgive you? Does everyone get extra fair tickets if a staff member caused lag in a dream? :3

Large waterfalls, larger items (like the statue) and lots of vegetation can worsen lag.

In my former island this was the area that lagged the worst when I ran by. It was not packed with items, but RS, the waterfall behind it and all the animated trees, shrubs, etc. on top of the game trying to render stuff in the background were probably the cause.

In my current undecorated island I haven't seen lag yet but I see the large NM items like the monster statue pop in at the corner of the screen when I'm running around.
why you did at the photo look really nice

My island is laggy when you're on the developed side for sure. I loved the way people were making market places and used that as inspo to build my market, and now with the waterfalls the lag is for sure noticeable. I hope it doesn't mess up my game too much because I really love my island so far and it's not even finished. Honestly I am worried the more I do to it the worse the lag will get.

Yeah, same. I know of the some of Holiday/Winter-themed items that are gonna be available in a few months and I wanted to do something with that but, like... I'm not sure if it's even a good idea anymore, what with the way things get so slow the more I add objects :/

Oh! I’m sorry if I made you feel bad. If you don’t have a lot of issues, you should keep it as it is if it makes you happy. :) I still loved seeing your island. I wouldn’t want you to change it just because it is laggy for others that visit it. Maybe they’ll fix that issue in a patch or something. I think it might be a problem for everyone sooner or later if they plan on trying to make the most of their island and decorate to the max. it is a shame if they don’t fix it since i love seeing fully decorated islands and decorating mine.

I have been slowly developing the left side of my island because I've been hold out for more buildings but IDK if I could even do them justice with the lag I have with my current market. Blarg. I'm excited but not at the same time.

Yes! It was at the worst when I was setting up the rock garden and had to completely fill every square of the island to prevent them from spawning, which is understandable. After that, the lag was completely gone until I gave into The Path™ and it's lagging again ;;w;;

The lag does seem to be less punishing/noticeable when you're walking through the laggy areas, however that's not ideal when you need to get from one side to the other...

My island used to lag when I had-

Alot of hedge fences out next to multiple waterfalls

Many flowers

Many flowers near a water source, even just a small pond

Now that I've tidied up my game doesn't lag anymore, but it kinda sucks that the system can't handle alot of stuff. Dream towns are a nightmare cause of all the lagging. I want to put more stuff out bit I absolutely *hate* the lagging.

It's no one thing that causes lag, the statue was probably the straw that broke the camel's back. Theres a couple of areas in mine that lag and I don't even have that much stuff. But as time goes on I can see this becoming unbearable. Not sure if it will be fixable in a patch but maybe if they release a Switch Pro, it would give the game a boost.

i've experienced lag when visiting islands in dreams, and typically these islands have tons of items, so I think the lag is just a consequence of that

My island NEVER lagged in the beginning. Even with some of the areas there's lag in now that are exactly the same as months ago. I think as they've added new content in it can't compensate as well as it used to or something. My friends have noticed more lag in places too!

I'm not aiming for an island design that is so dense that it would cause lag, but I do get pop-in with both buildings and items and it's actually a little concerning because I feel like I don't have that many items placed, really!
