Anyone else feel their art is crap? xD

Pretty sure that everyone's hit that point if they consider themselves as an artist... sometimes I'm discontented with my art too. But what I like to think is, if you can power through it all, then you can improve, and be able to draw something that you like :")
I didn't start out with anything glamorous, but there was a time that I drew whenever I had spare time; if not, I was looking up tutorials/speedpaints online, or if I was out, I'd look at the books on drawing in bookstores. (I still draw almost everyday these days!! Part of it is because I love drawing, but it's also because I want to keep improving my skills)
It's not an easy process, it's tedious, you get frustrated, but it's worth it! So if you're determined to become an artist who is confident in their art, don't give up - consider the things that you can do to improve, and take action ^ ^!!

This is kind of embarrassing but... one of my older tablet draws vs something recent!! Hope this can encourage people somehow 8")

Aww omg thanks for this ^~^

I'll keep drawing everyday in the hope I maybe will improve

And AHH you have improved so much aha

had that feeling for 3+ years now but i guess thats my motivation to improve
some people love my art some people hate it, unfortunately everything nowadays seems digital anyway so my art will always be the odd style

I don't feel it's completely bad, but my digital art? It's pretty crappy overall. I'd really like to improve, and I have been a tad lately, so yippee. :3

i wouldnt say my art is 'crap.' there are several aspects of my drawings that i'm proud of, but i am aware that i still have room for lots of improvement - so my art is just in that awkward phase where i got all the basics and some in depth details nailed down, but i make common mistakes

On a more serious note, I strongly believe that art should not be criticized and picked apart with a disparaging eye ... it is a little piece of your soul each time you draw, and your unique expression of how you see things and want to express them ... aside from help with techniques and how to and that kind of advice, people should just keep their negative assessments to themselves ... you can always find something good to see in every expression ... **rant over** (that was my mother speaking, BTW ... she taught me to always look at art with an appreciative eye, among other good things ... but I don't have room to write a book here)

No, I definitely feel the same. I think there's this pressure to be a great artist and keep getting better, but that's not really how it works. Sometimes you'll hit walls and sometimes you'll feel that there's no point since there's tons of people that are better. Having the desire to improve and grow is the best thing.

Same...

I would like to think that quality art isn't about age, but instead it grows more through experience and practice. I'm really lazy when it comes to doing art, so I do maybe one finished piece every four months. Obviously it probably won't be as good in comparison to a person who draws more frequently no matter what age.

why else do you think my gallery is called a 'dump' ? x'DD
