Anyone else about to give in to Time Traveling, or have you kept your TT'ing promises?

I mean it’s really no big achievement to complete the art museum since all you’re doing is pretty much waiting for Redd to show up and hope that he has the one you need as compared to the fish and bug collections wherein you have to work to get them. So yeah, it’s still just as impressive as it takes a lot of patience and perseverance to farm them since you eventually start getting a lot of duplicates towards the end.

I think completing any wing of the museum is a pretty big achievement. Probably one of the bigger motivations of the game.

I guess one of the reasons that I don't want to TT is that it burns through content that's supposed to last a long-time (paying off loans, finishing the museum, etc.) in a matter of days or even hours. That's not really how I want to play, especially since I usually play in 30 minute segments once or twice a day at most.

I was merely pointing out the problem with what you said about completing the art museum by time traveling as not being impressive when completing it the normal way is pretty much just waiting for Redd to show up. The former takes effort while the latter is just a waiting game.

Different strokes for different folks.

But my thought is that without TT, finishing the art museum will take a couple of years of daily logins (assuming they don't trade or have multiple accounts). 43 pieces of art with 2 visits per month is 86 weeks of regular logins but wait, he also regularly has duplicates. And his visiting schedule is somewhat random so if you miss a day, add 2 more weeks to the clock at a minimum.

It's things like this that make me think that New Horizons was largely designed as a way to get people enrolled in Nintendo Online. Some of the content is ridiculously difficult to access (matching color sets) or complete (the art museum) without paying that couple of bucks a month extra to trade.

I agree it’s definitely designed as a way to push subscriptions. I think it kinda ruined the joy of visiting the shops daily unlike the previous games where you can expect to see something new everyday. I don't think I’ve seen anything new in Nooks Cranny for some time now. It’s always the same items with the same color.

I can agree with the museum, but the loans took me no time at all and I didn't TT then. pretty much between nook mile tickets and flick you can make tons of bells. if the right months when u start they're are the sharks too, even the faker fin nets you over 1000 bells.

I TT only to speed up things like building moving, getting villagers to move in or to check somethings. and I always move back to actual time after.

I kinda wanted to avoid it, but that was before I realized how annyoing the wait for certain things could be sometimes. Ended up time traveling twice in order to complete a villager's move (so I could go island hopping) and once by accident because I forgot to switch back to the current date before I started the game. lol

I gave up on the no-TT rule months ago. I never knew about the mechanic back in ACNL and it made me realize that I missed out on so many things. At some point, the game will eventually give you a choice to either time travel to keep the game alive, or to not time travel and get bored until you just stop playing altogether (which is what happened in my acnl save). I think that's main the reason why this feature actually exists.

I don't know why people make a big deal about time-travelling in the first place. It's not illegal, it's not cheating. It's actually something I planned on doing from the start because I don't like waiting for the next day for my items to arrive in the mail to decorate when I could just go to the next day and get them right away. So I never really had a rule with myself not to time travel in the first place.

I also do it whenever I'm moving villagers in/out. Makes the process so much quicker.

It's honestly not even anyone's business how I play the game anyways, but that's just my 2 cents. 😂

I still don't like time travelling forward to speed up my progress, I have done it in the past and I know that it would kill my motivation to play. I have held the clock on a single date before though, while I had an open plot and was waiting for the person holding my villager to get it in boxes.

Then there have been a few times where I just wanted to play late at night and set the clock back several hours because at night all the shops are closed, and most of the villagers are asleep so it just gets lonely...

So yes, I guess I sometimes time travel, but rarely across days.

I said I didn't TT and I still haven't.

Well. I will say I haven't because the only time I did it was to TT exactly one day forward and back because I had an animal in boxes and someone was giving away Pietro.

Technically yes, this would mean I did TT but I don't count it given it was a one time thing and I haven't TT'd for anything since and don't plan to. I prefer to play the game at the slow, natural pace.

Am I ashamed of the minuscule TT I did do? No.
I don't think there is anything wrong with TT, I just personally don't enjoy it.

At first I wasn't too fond on time travelling either. I didn't want to do it myself, I wanted to just wait for certain events and then play through them without hurrying the game. That attitude still holds: I wouldn't skip to December now just so I can have seasonal DIYs/materials to craft/sell here.

Most of my time travelling has been backwards or on the same day. The only time I travelled forward for days at a time was when I was trying to get my rocks into a single place. I just didn't have the patience to wait for that, especially since they can spawn in wrong places when you forget a place. I also only checked rock locations at that point, and moved back immediately after.

All the other time travels have been backwards or on the same day. I've went backwards to collect the nook miles reward for the first bug-off (I missed that one), and I've set the time back a few hours yesterday so I could go island hopping by daylight and properly see what villagers look like. I've also set the time forward once, to go bug hunting at a time when I couldn't play in the evenings.

If I get really, really bored with the game I might start time-travelling more. I might go back to spring season to collect the cherry blossom DIYs if I feel the game won't last until next spring for me anyways. It also depends on what updates may add to keep me entertained. But that way I could 'complete' most of this island and perhaps feel better about starting over.

I've alway's Time Traveled. But Only One or a few Day's ahead, i don't go full month's ahead. I Time Travel when i'm Changing the Exterior of my House, and when i'm moving in Amiibo Villager's.

When i'm Making a DIY Tarantula/Scorpion Island, I'll Time Travel Backward's to sell them to the Nooklings Directly as the sell box they have lowers the price. Unless Flick is on my Island.

However when i have Turnips, i don't Time Travel. When i want to Time Travel i'll wait until after i've sold my Turnips.

Sheer boredom got me back in to TT.

I'm addicted.
It's just that there's nothing in this game worth TT'g for.

I agree with this 100% I don't understand why people make it a big deal, like your account will be insta banned or you're doing a criminal activity. I've seen people even talk down to people who TT. Its like they paid money for the game let them play how they want. You don't hate on TT when you buy TT stuff on nookazon 😂 😂

i only tt'd once and it was to get the bedhead hair because i thought it was really cute tbh

I planned not to time travel in this game and so far haven’t time traveled at all. Happy just experiencing things from one day to the next. :)

I've always made it a rule not to TT in my AC game ever since the gamecube days, but today for some reason I cracked! I only bounced around a couple days in order to replace a villager and move a house, then went back to the normal time. I'll probably mostly keep playing it day-by-day, but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't tempted to TT more now that I know how convenient and easy it is!

I made a post like this in April or something asking TBTF members if they had kept their personal promises of not TTing in NH, and most of you guys did. Now in August I'm asking you guys again.

Has anyone TT'd in NH when you originally vowed not to TT?

Personally my goal was to not time travel for at least 3-5 months after getting the game in March. I almost met my goal, but ultimately had to time travel a handful of times to get rid of villagers. Now in July/August, I recently decided to redo most of my island and TT'd a lot to demolish and rebuild stairs/bridges faster. Now that that's done, I am bored (lol) and thinking about TT'ing to autumn (and maybe winter) to collect the remaining DIYs I don't have. Part of me doesn't care anymore about not TT'ing since I know what all the items I am missing are, but part of me wants to wait and not TT. What about y'all?

Also I am not hating on or judging anyone who chooses to TT or not TT. Its your own game so do what you want!! :)
despite how long it is going to take to fully New Leaf-ize my island... I have NOT time traveled even once. Even if it means my island won't be done for about two weeks or so.

I time travel now when I'm making major changes to my island and don't want to wait for things to be moved/built. At the start I didn't TT.
