I made a post like this in April or something asking TBTF members if they had kept their personal promises of not TTing in NH, and most of you guys did. Now in August I'm asking you guys again.
Has anyone TT'd in NH when you originally vowed not to TT?
Personally my goal was to not time travel for at least 3-5 months after getting the game in March. I almost met my goal, but ultimately had to time travel a handful of times to get rid of villagers. Now in July/August, I recently decided to redo most of my island and TT'd a lot to demolish and rebuild stairs/bridges faster. Now that that's done, I am bored (lol) and thinking about TT'ing to autumn (and maybe winter) to collect the remaining DIYs I don't have. Part of me doesn't care anymore about not TT'ing since I know what all the items I am missing are, but part of me wants to wait and not TT. What about y'all?
Also I am not hating on or judging anyone who chooses to TT or not TT. Its your own game so do what you want!!
I planned to TT... and I have (frankly, it annoys me how some people seem to assume that someone who's TTed has "failed" in resisting the temptation to TT, as if everyone tries to avoid it like the plague- it's always been a big part of gameplay in every AC game for me, and I have no intentions of changing that). I was in November, but TTed back to recreate a side character with a new name (and have the right move-in date) and then I'll be heading back to November to get more mush recipes. I considered waiting to get the mush recipes (less about not wanting to TT, I don't really understand why so many people seem opposed to it, but you do you- I really don't care unless people judge me for TTing, and unfortunately plenty of people do) but I decided not to for a few reasons:
1. I wanted to decorate with them NOW. And I'd rather earn them myself then trade for the DIYs/supplies or items.
2. If I waited until the actual time they'd be available, there's a solid chance there will be a holiday event going on (for the Harvest Fest) that would mean there would be MORE DIYs to collect, thus making the mush ones harder to get.
3. Going off of that- I'm not expecting to run out of things to do or get bored because I'm expecting more updates and holiday events. The only reason I wouldn't TT to get DIYs would be concern I'd get bored or run out of things to do. BUT, since Nintendo is regularly releasing updates, I don't see that happening.
The first two or so months I didn't but eventually the daily stuff started being a little too short so I started TTing. I currently am only TTing forward one day at a time, so basically normal play but faster.
I originally planned on not time traveling, but it eventually turned to no time traveling beyond one or two days forward or backwards lol. Whenever it comes to night time, I am never ready to go to bed and I still want to shop or find out who my npc and then to farm the npc (like gullivarr/redd) is the next day, so a lot of times I end up tting. Since I trade, I need to tt sometimes to get people’s orders. I’m pretty sure people would have understood if I didn’t want to tt, but since I tt a day forward or back anyways, it’s not going to hurt me to do it for trading.
I have some mixed feelings still doing it, but for the most part, I’m having fun and plan on continuing playing the way I have been.
i was one of the people who said they weren’t going to time travel and i didn’t last very long at all lmaoo. nothing too drastic but i once time travelled to june (this was back in april/may) because i really wanted to catch a shark. but now, i’ve been time travelling a bit as i haven’t been playing consistently and so i’m time travelling one day at a time to try and get back to present day ;w;
Right now, I have enough to do every day (especially on weekdays) to play the game as is. I'm planning on playing a full year in-game until I've caught and donated all the bugs, fish, and sea creatures available in a year (so no time-traveling for me until June 2021). Thereafter, I will gladly time-travel to farm Redd to finish the art section in the museum, assuming I wasn't able to finish it "naturally." Between getting art from my island and my S/O's, I am really hoping the art spawn RNG doesn't screw with me. Two can play at this game, Redd...
I only time travel sometimes, mainly to kick out villagers, I always going back to the current date after I'm done kicking out said villager and found an replacement. Even if I would go ahead and plan to not doing any time traveling at all, I know I will caught myself doing it anyway shortly after.
I planned not to time travel but as I completed the main content of the game I got bored and I knew that I’d end up giving up if I didn’t TT to find new challenges.
I've had the game since launch and have so far not TT'd once. Just a personal preference I like to play day by day, and even if I make a mistake, that's just how life works.
I am trying to not TT, being patient for that mushroom furniture!!
However, I did TT once when there was a meteor shower on my island. I had work the next AM and didn’t want to stay up later for Celeste and shooting stars so I TT’d a few hours so I could go to bed on time.
I think people should play however they want with no judgement too. TT or not, just enjoy the game however you want to enjoy it.
I planned not to time travel but I knew I would eventually. I time traveled after about 2.5 months just to move some buildings around. I don’t time travel frequently though in my daily play. The only time I do it is to move buildings and I never go past the date IRL.
I planned not to time travel but then I needed to move literally every building and that would have taken weeks caused I changed my mind so many times. Then I really wanted new villagers and get photos of my villagers so I just gave in.
I'd planned on TTing as little as possible but considering I reset my island a few days in and still started on March 20th, I was probably setting myself up for it lol. I ttd quite a lot in NL and I definitely do it a lot less now than i did then; I mostly just do it now if I'm cycling an NPC or cycling villagers out. it's not a frequent part of my gameplay though, and I never TT out of the current month
