anybody else having an issue w/ redd showing back up?

i've seen people complaining about an issue where he won't show up at all to begin with, but my issue is a liiittle bit different.

i met him around town, i got a painting from him, i upgraded the museum, i unlocked the boat & purchased a piece of art from it. that's all happened without issue.

my problem is that redd won't come back. :-( i've TTed around a ton because i've heard it said he can still show up via TTing, and he hasn't showed up once. TTed back to the initial date his boat docked, and it wasn't here. anyone else having this issue lol? does he only show up if you're synced to real time after all, or is he just bugged that badly?

Based on other posts I've seen regarding him disappearing, the common trend seems to suggest that this problem is specifically caused by time travelling.

I'm in the exact same boat as you are, and I read a post on here recently about someone who was able to get Redd to spawn again by visiting him on another island. Maybe that's worth a shot?

I have TT'ed a ton too trying out the campsite trick and was worried since I didn't see Redd for a long time but after awhile he docked on my island, although his arrival was once in a blue moon. Hence, I'm not sure if this glitch is entirely due to TTing or I was just lucky. I agree with the above poster though, buying genuine art from someone else and donating to Blathers might fix this.

I tt a whole ton and u see redd very rarely. It may seem like he just doesnt show up, but in my experience he just shows up very infrequently. Not sure how often he does for non time travelers though.

I read on another forum that a few people had found that after the first three visits (the first is when he's walking around your island and sells you a painting, the second is when he's walking around your island and asks you to board the boat, and the third is when you can visit him as he's docked), he doesn't tend to visit the island more than once monthly.

Although please note this isn't confirmed and is just what a few TTers found!

Someone here has claimed to have completed their art gallery, so it may definitely be possible to TT to get more art. I doubt they bought all their art from other players.

I have the same problem and I don't TT!

If you don't TT then you wouldn't know yet if you have this problem. Not enough days have physically passed since the update to be able to determine this.

If you end up finding him you can just TT back/forth to the next day then back to get different art.
I did this a few times for my villagers home and outside decorations (want to get the ones for the museum normally) and it worked fine.
The pattern for the week (who shows up when) is determined on each sunday. I'm wondering if his spawn rate is just... lower than other NPCs? I've gotten leif twice in one week I believe. (Sunday then monday) but I'm not sure if sunday is the start of the new trend or if monday is and Sunday just picks it.

Note I have been able to get him either every week or every other week and I tt day by day to get certain things done.

Edit: the sunday resetting has to do with why you're not seeing him on the dates you saw him previously. Because that's not the pattern anymore.

ty’all for the responses!!! all the input from other TTers has made me feel a lot less worried about this if redd just barely shows up often no matter what,,, Sunday rollover being why he didn’t show up when i TTed back to his initial docking date makes plenty of sense too, can’t believe i didn’t consider that

It's very strange, I have had him show up three times I believe since the update, and I don't time-travel.

I feel like his show up rate compared to other NPC's is generally lower. I TT a lot, and I only see him every so often. For a while I thought I had the same problem of him glitching out and never appearing again, but then I saw him on the following day. I've only gotten him around 4 times in total though.

THIS! This is exactly why! I had him on April 24th and was farming him to buy painting from his dark lair. Had to TT to the 28th (which was past Sunday) and when I tried to go back to the 24th, he was no longer there.

I got frustrated and restarted from the 21st and miraculously got him dated April 23rd. Now I’m going to farm him as much as I can to get more art before syncing back with the real world.
