I kind of like the idea of living in a single room home like the villagers do. I'm considering doing it on this playthrough. I know that it also impacts your overall storage but I've always liked cozy homes so I'm thinking about giving it a try!

I wish we could choose the rooms, I do this in a heartbeat and only have the upstairs/basement/main floor and maybe the back room. The entrances to the side rooms mean I can't put as much furniture in the main room.

In CF I used to stop upgrading once I got the largest expansion to the main room just because I liked how it looked on the outside lol

This! I much prefer the idea of an upstairs, main floor, and basement. I don't feel the need for the side rooms. I love the idea of a small and cozy home. The only down sides are lack of storage if i don't make a second character and also not getting nook mile badges.

I would love to have just one or two rooms, but I desperately need the storage and I'm a completionist so I'm going to want to finish my home eventually. I wish we could demolish rooms or something lmao I mostly don't like the side rooms.

I probably would have done it if it weren't for the fact that I'd be stuck with the small storage space. I'm a massive hoarder and I need quick access to all those things I will likely never use!

Yeah I agree! In NL I chose to have my bathroom in the backroom and kitchen upstairs, and bedroom and living room were merged. I'm really not sure why they didn't give us the options this time...and the room sizes aren't great either, it seems disproportionate that the upstairs and basement are 6x10.

EXACTLY. I had no idea what to use my upstairs for before I reset my island, I'm gonna try living in the largest one room house this time around and overall try to own less stuff. See how it treats me!

I would have kept my tent if I didn't need storage so bad...
The tent is really cute too, gotta say, but I prefer the single room cottages that everyone gets down the road and it feels kinda weird to me when I'm living it up in a mansion while my villagers have such humble abodes!

Don't think I've ever actually tried doing it, but the thought has crossed my mind once or twice. It's a bit like minimalism you could say, or the irl tiny home trend. My house is fully upgraded but I have my whole upstairs as like a small cramped flat with everything except my bathroom in it. Cheap kitchen stuff, loft bed, studying spot on the floor with my cushion and coffee, Only Me on the boombox

I've considered it! I might block off the entrances to the side and back rooms. I definitely have that plan for an extra character I plan on making

I love having multiple rooms, you can make your own little cool places in it, I find them a bit small for the extensions so I think that's "cozy" enough for me

I almost always have waaaaay too many side characters and usually at least one gets a cozy lil one room cottage~
The only thing that sucks is you’re stuck with the starter exterior/roof color for eternity since you unlock customization through upgrading your home
