Ey! So here a'h some tips an' tricks for selling items!
-Make sure you're selling something that's hard to find! Don't go selling random garbage!
-Make your prices low, but not too low. A suggestion, is if you have a furniture series that can be ordered, sell the series for 1.5 times the total cost of the series.
-Don't just sell, buy! Not only do you need to stay on your game with selling, you also need to look at the competition. Maybe buying something from someone and selling it for even more than you bought it!

It depends on what you're selling. There's only so much you can do to market items or villagers which are not very high in demand. The most effective way to sell stuff is to look at people's buying threads and find people who are looking for the stuff you have. People are more likely to trade with you (and pay better prices) if you come to them instead of waiting for them to come to you.
you can always use the search function to look for threads about specific villagers or items to see how they are being sold, not just the prices, but the language or the context of the sale (time dependant things like mush furniture will often be more likely to be seen or sell around the harvest festival). be smart about selling and try for things that are trending.
i think a good thing too, is to not just sell one thing at a time. variety is the spice of life and people like options.
i definitely agree with red cat too, make sure you are looking in buying threads or wishlist threads ! easy ways to often give more common furniture like orderables because they're something specific a singular person is looking for.
