I got them before by clearing my town of all possible plants, and even then it took a while for them to spawn. Wondering if anyone has tried and true strategies to increase their spawn rate so I don't have to hunt for so many hours (and while we're at it, any strategies for petaltail dragonflies as well)

One thing that worked in WW, was carrying a net.
It attracts them. ^_^

New Leaf is my first foray into AC. And as far as I know carrying the net doesn't work that way in this game

I'll find out in 3 hours. It rained all day and night yesterday, so there were none. It's the first time hunting them in NL for me.

Yeah, scorpions not much better. I got lucky this time, stumbled upon it while the sound was off and trying to find the balloon present that should've been floating around

I saw one yesterday but then it suicided into water so I couldn't catch it..

Lol!
A Scorpion was the first thing I ever caught (in WW). I didn't know what is was, and had just finished doing the Nook jobs my first night playing. I bought a net.

Oh cool, I just left my retail and there was a tarantula right in front and it was super easy to catch

Got one.
The first one got ME. O_O

Turning teh game off now.

*sits in corner, shaking*

They made it even BIGGER in NL!
Horrid looking in my inventory.

I can pick up snakes, love them. Lizards too.
Not spiders. O_O
