I was able to buy a few games for the Switch before this pandemic became widespread, like BotW, Smash U, Odyssey, NH, and Cave Story +

Of them, I've only played NH the most (TTing for Raymond) a bit of the rest, and Cave Story I had already completed on the 3DS--and I absolutely loved the story (and ost).

I was wondering if there are other really good games for the Switch that have a dark, compelling story. I'm not sure why, but I've been in the mood to play a dark game. 🙃🥴

I've heard Undertale is good too, but I'm not if it's worth trying.

I really love Fire Emblem Three houses. To me it's pretty dark, but idk how to explain without giving spoilers lolol. Umm. Basically, it's about different parts of the kingdom..ok, yeah I can't do it LOL. Let me just insert a trailer for you haha

AI: The Somnium Files, it's fantastic. I think half of my posts since the major TBT update have been me yelling about this game oops

Dark is a pretty opinionated term, but I fell in love with this indie game called Va-11 Hall-a.
It’s rated M (for good reason) but only because of explicit language and alcoholic use (you’re a bartender) so it’s not the NSFW stuff. I think it’s story is great and definitely worth a spin if you’re open to the more mature kind of games!

Seconding Fire Emblem and Witcher 3 (although I played this on xbox so cannot vouch for the switch version).

I second Night in the Woods.
I also really enjoyed Thimbleweed Park, Machinarium, Child of Light, The Walking Dead series.
They're not Switch-exclusive games and some of them are quite short but so so good.

Bioshock: The Collection is a really good one if you never played the series. Dark story that has a lot of suspenseful moments.

You should check out Katana Zero if it doesn't have to be that storydriven.

If you're looking for a storydriven game with horror elements, I'd suggest Oxenfree.

its a metroidvania style game and the gameplay is really fun

So, this is suuuper old school and might not be up your alley if you’re into hack and slash or first person shooter style adventures, but I just bought Baldur’s Gate for the Switch and I am LOVING it. I may be biased since I played it on pc. Ore than a decade ago, and on iPad around five years ago, but the port to Switch is better than I had dreamed and it is definitely story intensive and on the dark side.
