You should get a dog and see if this happens. Taking care of an animal is completely different then seeing one. Picking up dog poo from a park so you don't get fined won't give you an elated feeling, I promise. I'm not trying to be mean....but I mean, I get happy around dogs, too, whether I've owned them or not, (and I did at some points in my life). But that's just a feeling. Feelings are....different then spirituality. Feelings are literally chemical reactions in your brain. Being spiritual is above any sort of feeling or comprehension that we, as humans, have.

um alright you know what i'm getting kind of tired and...like someone already said (and you've also kind of said) it's my own spiritual belief, perhaps you'll never really quite get it and i suppose quite right too. and i didn't...come here to have an argument/debate/shout at ppl i only wanted to find other people who are kin and it's quite clear there are none, so I'm going to leave this thread now...and forget this never happened lmao.
Not saying they are the same or alike, I'm a Christian and in all honesty, I think otherkin is ridiculous but I won't mock it.
I'm just saying it can be treated like it's a religion just as how other religions are treated; with respect.

that would be one factor to believing that you had died in a past life from drowning! i doubt you'd be waterkin from this, however, as waterkin feel close to tides and the energy of water etc etc, and since you are afraid of water...it's unlikely that you would have been that in a past life (unless there are other factors that would suggest you were).
but as previously mentioned, it's more than just one factor that helps you decide if you are otherkin. it takes a lot of self discovery to realise one is kin.

(ok wait i have to reply to this because this is something i havent covered yet) people tend to be kin w/ more "appealing"/"common" animals as they are they animals we spend the most time around (dogs and cats for example) and we see a lot of appealing animals on programs on television and in the media. having said this, I have met ppl who are kin with bugs and insects and even slugs! so really, people are kin with a looooot of animals, despite it looking as though it's just dogs and cats and wolves.

You see, I'm not quite sure it's that I don't....get it. I think you need a proper understanding of how science works. Your brain doesn't do these things because of spirituality, it does these things because there are little triggers all around you, literally, all the time. I understand the idea. You were a dog in a past life. But really, you were /everything/ in a past life. The little molecules that make up who you are come from places in the universe you probably can't even imagine. I get it, but I just really want you to understand that it goes quite beyond just being a dog.

if you were supposedly a dog in your past life that apparently makes you "dogkin"
so if you're a turtle in your next life are you dogkin or humankin
if "souls" aren't tied to being specific creatures then why the **** would it matter what body your soul was in the past
and wtf there isn't some kind of set dog or turtle or dragon personality just like there's no set human personality
