No, lol. So you're basically saying an old religion that relies on being conscious about reincarnation and some subculture of today that is about finding your animal is the same. Also buddhism has way more advanced teachings about this than just sayin 'lol i was dog'...

um.

past life regression is a technique used by both otherkin and buddhists to learn more about their past lives. and do you think i just woke up one morning and said "you know what? i used to be a dog." that's....not what happened.

Some otherkin (such as elvenkin) claim they are allergic to iron (and products of modern technology)

Um.. lol. Jav a blast being on the webs then.

Also while I actually have some respect for certain religions and beliefs this is more dumb tbh.

They are still not the same. Lol.

didn't say they were the same. just said they were similar with regards to past lives and beliefs in reincarnation.

To each their own. I understand why one would think like this. I have cat-like tendencies, but I, myself, am not a cat and I am fully aware of that. I'm thinking that this is how an 'other-kin' thinks, only on a more....extreme level, (me + cat dreams + cat tendencies = I am a cat. This is how the thought process works out in my head, and how I'm understanding otherkins). The whole concept doesn't seem extreme, not saying that, but that's how I am understanding. You have tendencies to act/think like a different animal, therefore you must /be/ the animal. It's a bit odd, I'll admit, but nonetheless it's your belief, and that's okay. I don't know that it's something I believe in, but again, to each their own.

I, myself, am an accumulation of different beliefs based off of my own experiences and things I learn from different times/places/people. Not quite religious, as much as I am spiritual. If this helps you, spiritually, then I say: go right on believing that you're a dog. If it's not, then you'll be aware of that in time, and you should probably stop at some point. Either way, I come from a place of understanding.

So I'm afraid of the ocean, like swimming in water period. I would think that, if there was a thing of reincarnation, my past self died of drowning so this is why I'm afraid of swimmming/big bodies of water

OR, am I a waterkin?

??

i appreciate your support and...understanding. i just want to say that i am aware that i'm human right now. i believe that in a past life i was a dog not because I occasionally act like a dog but because of dreams in which i have almost always been a dog in.

So it's just a belief that you were a dog based off of dreams, (dreams of dogs + me = I was dog).
Don't mean to....burst your bubble, but this isn't something new. This kind of belief has been around for thousands of years and is called many different things in many different languages/religions. But dreams are just an accumulation of things you see that are stored in your subconscious. Sleep is literally your brain de-fragging your mind, which is why people see so many different images, and why some dreams are so bizzare. Scientifically speaking, anyway.

Spiritually speaking, you can believe whatever you'd like.

stop it really.

tell me they are as advanced with their categories and distinctions and .. just maybe.

that would be one factor to believing that you had died in a past life from drowning! i doubt you'd be waterkin from this, however, as waterkin feel close to tides and the energy of water etc etc, and since you are afraid of water...it's unlikely that you would have been that in a past life (unless there are other factors that would suggest you were).

but as previously mentioned, it's more than just one factor that helps you decide if you are otherkin. it takes a lot of self discovery to realise one is kin.

Looked it up... *cough* yeah ok bye.

you could have read my previous message/s explaining it all, but alright :)

What im thinking now after looking it up, otherkin is a belief so it may be counted as a religion just like Buddhism and Christianity, etc.. correct me if im wrong.

There's no way you can change people that believe they are otherkin. No point in trying to make OP believe otherwise

and...again...it's a collection of "things" that have happened/experiences i have had. the dreams add to the other things that i've experience that make me believe this.

No, doesn't mean they are alike or the same though.

It's kinda... cool you are a dog or whatever but don't compare it to more serious stuff really.

yep, there are small otherkin communities (otherkincommunity and kinmunity being the most common), and people outside of the internet have been recognised as otherkin since the 80s i believe.

like i've probably mentioned before, i am aware that i am human in this life. it is a past life belief similar to those of Buddhism

That's an insult to buddhism

So, what things have happened other then your dreams?

i talked about this before but...okay. as a young child (and as young children do) i used to play pretend as a dog a lot...except it was almost all the time to the point it creeped my parents & sister out a little bit. obviously i don't do this anymore as it's not "socially acceptable". there's the dreams. and astral limbs, which sounds rather odd, but it is the feeling of canine ears & tail attached to my human body. i also feel extremely happy (elated, almost) around other dogs and would spend a lot of time around them, if I had my own (unfortunately my parents hate them)

That gives us no proof and makes the whole thing seem like a spiritual journey, and that's it. And because it is only spiritual to you only, those of us here who read this don't know what to make of it, which is why it's being joked about. There's no proof of anything for us, here, other then the dreams you mentioned, and to be honest dreams aren't really proof of anything. You literally could have seen a dog ten years ago and then dream about being a dog tonight because of it. It's like saying I'm an otherkin of water because I have always loved water. And if we all /really/ want to get technical here, we are all otherkin of stars because our atoms once made up the matter of stars that eventually collided together to become Earth.

There we go. I am Starkin.
