Do any of you have just sudtle nods to the real you or things to do with you in the real world placed either on your island or in your player's home?
Memorials are usually pretty straight forward with either pictures or sayings or just being plan as day "this is what this is"
I'm talking subtle. Stuff only you or someone close to you may catch onto.
... oh, wanna know what made me thought of this?
I made 3 paw plates for the "pet" corner of the main room in my residents home. White, dark gray, and light blue. They represent my 3 animals irl!
Nihon, white japanese spitz.
Charcoal, black pursian/Norwegian forrest cat mix.
Olmi, light blue-grey tabby main coone/rag doll mix... my profile picture is an old, dimmy light picture of her napping on my chest actually.
So! Tell me about your spaces! Show them off!
Anyone you know visit your island and notice them?
I try to make my Animal Crossing world reflect an ideal version of my real world, so nothing is super subtle.
For example, my bedroom is modeled after my childhood bedroom. Right down to the magazine with an ad for Mega Man X4 that I read daily leading up to Christmas 1997.
back in new leaf
i had my main room and my back room decorated in the way i would've decorated it if i had the money.
the side rooms are a bathroom and kitchen respectively, and my basement is just my creepy writer gone crazy in a cabin in the woods kind a room.
ince i don't have room now in my new horizon home ( it is litterally filled to the brim with bugs, fish and fossils, since i don't own the museum just yet ( i will tomorrow )
but from what i've seen what the sizes of the rooms are in this game, i think i'll decorate it however i feel fits me best.
( i don't know what all the furniture looks like so i will see it when i see it )
Not a nod to the real me per se, more like an homage to my friend’s cat. He notoriously refused to pee in the kitty litter box for almost a whole year so I put some paw prints on my beach that very deliberately circle around the designated kitty litter box and then a pee puddle right next to it it with a big FU written in the sand. And a wanted poster right next to that with the words “Have you seen this cat?”, a cat silhouette and a 100,000 bell reward.
I feel that my island as a whole is a reflection of me. The theme has roots in my background, and the layout is loosely based on the seaside town I grew-up in. There are morbid things scattered around and the same could be said for my real house. My character dresses in clothes I either own or would wear.
my house interior layout is quite similar to my new leaf house, which is frankly a standard at this point if i ever have my own house. it’ll be similar. the room is already similar to my room, with tons of blue items.
my second character named taeyong is my bias from nct 127, i wanted to be neighbors with him. i also have a taeyong photo in 2 of my rooms.
also, there’s also a lot of punchy references around my town lol. people who don’t know much about him won’t get it. but people who knows me & knows punchy is my favorite would laugh at the punchy posters, blue & yellow furniture section, punchy flag (although i changed it now, it’s not too subtle), and k.k. love song playing around the island. obsessed much?
it's not anything to do with my house, but anyone who knows me in real life will recognise my resident rep from the camo bomber jacket - we both have one and I wear mine all the time, it is super comfy
I gave Raymond a halo because he resembles an irl cat I used to look over or “catsit” for several years when the owners went on long business trips. The cat has passed away for a long while now.
I'm not too sure if it's the real me or anything but I'm finally making my house into a restaurant house (? basically a house with restaurants in all rooms except main which is reception). I've been wanting to do this since NL but because I cut the game cold turkey for other reasons, I've never been able to do it! Finally doing a 7 year dream of mine
I have albums of Shiina Ringo in the living room of my island rep's house. It feels out of place since it isn't exactly her taste in music. I might put it in her fireplace/study area since it's more neutral. (Though this made me want to make a new player character to just decorate it for myself and not hers.)
I have a mallard duck lint brush in my bedroom in real life that had belonged to my great grandmother. I put the decoy duck item in the mallard color in my bedroom in animal crossing to make it feel more like home to me. I also have a few owl figurines in my room in real life, which is why I wanted the log decorative shelves in my bedroom in the game! I like to make the rooms look like how I'd actually decorate a room in real life.
My house is done the way I'd decorate if I could afford it. I do use things that have a lot of meaning to me - books, a spinning wheel, cat tower, witchy items.
Outside is my interpretation of how I'd live if I actually was in the game.
I have a few subtle references to my S/O on the island, since she means the world to me. I've been planting her favorite color (yellow) in flowers, I have a Goldie poster (her favorite villager), and a crown to resemble that she's queen of my world.
Idk how subtle it is, but I’m obsessed with Elsa from Frozen. There’s a picture of her pinned to the cork board in my bedroom lol. So far only my best friend has noticed.
