Exactly what it says on the tin :P my little sister broke my PSP when I was thisclose to finishing corpse party, and have been looking for a different game in the horror genre to play through- I've really liked horror RPGs (think Ib, Yume Nikki, the Witch's House and Mermaid Swamp) but am certainly not limited to that platform ^^
Anyone have any ideas?

Amnesia the Dark Descent is fantastic. It's entirely in first person and there are no weapons made available to you to fight anything that attacks you off, you can only hide or run from them. Regardless of the amount of LP's out for it now, it's still worth at least one playthrough to experience it yourself. The atmosphere is incredible. Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem is also said to be an enjoyable experience. Outlast isn't the greatest horror title, but it's got some pretty impressive elements that sort of mix n' match the Amnesia style into it. And I'd also suggest Silent Hill 1-3.

Slenderman, Serena (steam) uhhh download psp emulator and play corpse party? (uhhhh dunno haha)

And what Fawful said lol. . .

Slenderman is terrible
If you are limited to free games, I personally love Mad Father, but if not Amnesia can be good.
There are tons of nice ones off computer as well

Ty to everyone who replied so far! ^^
Though free games are ideal (esp ones on PC), I do know a guy with every console available :P and I'd love the suggestions anyways!!
I did plah Amnesia: the Dark Descent but was a little... underwhelmed? My cousin was crying when he played it and it didn't really scare me ^^; even tho I immersed myself in it, it was just a bit silly- and yes, I played alone in the dark with a hoodie and headphones :P
I've also played Silent Hill, which I LOVE (I'm terrified and attracted to pyramid heads at the same time >.>), but I haven't played 2 yet!!
Finally, I'll look into getting a PSP emulator- I didn't think of that!! I have a gameboy emulator on my phone I use for pokemon fire red, so I think it may work on my mobile ^^

Additionally, yeah, Slender man's terrible. I jumped once and beat the thing in six tries

Try Alan Wake if you liked Silent Hill. It's more of a thriller, but it reminded me of SH (normal person in a living nightmare) while it's still unique.

Also try Outlast.

Silent Hill 1-4
Resident Evil 2, 3, and Revelations
Amnesia
Penumbra
Cry of Fear (free on Steam)
Siren
Fatal Frame (Project Zero) 1-3
Clock Tower (SNES)
Dead Space (currently on sale on Steam until the 17th)

^ Definitely what that person said about Fatal Frame. It's a Japanese ghost horror game for the PS2 and you have to fight with a camera (by taking pictures). The only complaint is that the character runs way too slow lol

You have a very similar taste in horror games as I! Always delighted to find a fan of the indie horror scene around~

I'd suggest to give the award winning "the Longing Ribbon" a chance. It's a horror adventure game but with traditional RPG elements.
Desert Nightmare and Schuld are also amazing games made by a German guy who I respect immensely, and so are Misao and Mad Father (although the former has a B-movie-esque feel with a pretty shocking backstory revealed at the end)
Hello Hell...o is a pretty innovative horror adventure played in super tiny scenes that repeat themselves. (I played it together with Mermaid Swamp and I must say I enjoyed it at least as much)
Miserere is a game that mirrors Yume Nikki in its dream exploration but it's much more innovative in what it does as far as I'm concerned -I still need to go back and finish that one though-
the Crooked Man is a surprisingly long game considering the length of most indie horror games of the same school and also features a pretty good story.

Last but not least, and although it's a game that sports horror elements only as opposed to being a horror game, Alice Mare happens to be one of the most touching games I've played in a long while and together with it's beautiful soundtrack has haunted and inspired me for a good long while.

All these right out of the top of my head. If I dive in my indie games folder I'm bound to surface with more gems though.

I don't really enjoy horror games. I love horror movies and the like, but just not the games.

There are however one or two horror games that I quite like. For example, Silent hill. I feel as though most horror games these days are just a series of jump scares and running away from baddies. They don't really have any of that mind-twisting kind of horror that sticks with you throughout your experience and doesn't fade within a few seconds.

Which is the exact reason I prefer indie games. Because their means are so limited they create the best stories and most amazing atmospheres from literally nothing at all. And it's truly those stories and characters that really stay with you for a long time after you've finished the game and put the controller (or keyboard) down.

Ahh thank you for your suggestions!! Here are some upd8s (as I binged on some of these :P)
Have played Alice Mare (even if its not horror I loved it so much) and Desert Nightmare, never liked the latter too much and haven't been much interested in Schuld
Played outlast at yr reccomendations. Not really... my cup of tea? I feel like it got a little boring- it seemed like I was tunning the entire time, and I was so high-strung on it...? It just didnt really have any quiet exploration to unnerve the player, which is usually what makes these games so eerie.
Also, you know, the ending sucked imo. >.<
Also have played Misao and Mad Father, have not played Hello hell....o bc it wouldnt run on my computer but I'll definitely try it again!! And I'll also check out the Longing Ribbon and Miserere!!
Finally, yes Ive played the dark descent, yes I got freaked out @ the basement, no I didn't like the game v.v. wasn't what it was cracked up to be
Ty for the suggestions, though!!! I'll definitely try them out!!

OUTLAST
NOW,GO

I can definitely recommend Outlast! It's terrifying, and the graphics are great and I can't say enough about it. Also, Slender: The Arrival. My favorite of any Slender-based game. I love the storyline and everything about it is amazing.

I'm not really into horror, but one title scared me so much I couldn't make it past four rooms.
SCP: Containment Breach.
It's about a place called the SCP foundation, a place where many different types of monsters, creatures, and paranormal objects are held. One day, when testing the containment procedures of SCP-173, the door mechanisms break, and SCP-173 murders everyone in the room, everyone but you. The guards and other personnel escape, but all of the other creatures (SCPs) escape from containment. You must leave the facility while avoiding the SCPs, guards, and Nine-Tailed-Fox, a group of specially trained soldiers to enter the facility, and hunt you down.

I'd definitely do SH2 games. Like 2, 3 and 4 for sure. I feel like after that SH kinda went downhill (although I did enjoy Homecoming).

Also there's a that new game Daylight coming out like next week or the week after, I think. I recall something about it being like $15 dollars as well. So, pretty good price.
