A really good one is Space Battleship Yamato 2199, it's a really good sci-fi Anime. For it's age, the original story holds up very well. and if you're not afraid to watch a really old anime, I recommend Hokuto no Ken, and the Jojo's Bizarre adventure OVA from the 90's

If you want some comedy and romance, I would suggest Ouran High School Host Club. If you want action, I would suggest Attack on Titan or Deadman Wonderland. All these series are pretty short, with 20 something episodes each. Attack on Titan is supposed to be getting more seasons some day, but Deadman and Ouran are done.
