idk why i keep going to them, like i dont really watch that much anime anymore but there's just something about the conventions that keeps making me go. they're fun and all but whyyyYYY do i keep returning to blow more money on stuff i dont need.

have any of you been to an anime or gaming convention?? what do you buy there?

I've been to a few anime conventions, and all I do is go straight to Artist Alley tbh
Also staring at expensive stationary that I can never buy u v u

I've been to ACEN 2011 and 2012. I've also gone to C2E2 2013. ACEN 2012 was the most fun I've ever had. I don't buy anything at conventions. It's all overpriced. I don't really watch anime but I'd like to go to more conventions just because they're a total blast.

I bought lots of manga and few other stuff, as for example Rilakkuma plushie which decorates my school bag or a booklet with stickers. For the deco stuff, well, there's no real need for them. But if you look around you, there are tons of stuff you don't really need.
As for going to a convention, I think conventions have this special feeling. Where you can feel at ease, be surrounded by people who have the same interest and there's no way that someone would laugh at you because you run around with aN old-fashioned japanese school bag. :'>

I've been going to this one convention ever since I was a Weeaboo in 6th grade. I don't like anime that much anymore but I go with my friends every year. The convention center is also a 5 min walk from my highschool, so I easily can get there. I still go for the artist alleys and to hang out with my friends.

I really want to go to this game convention in PA (I think it's in PA). It has a load of old stuff to buy, and I really want to get gameboy colors and the original pokemon games.

im planning to go to some this year with a couple of friends :)

it will be the first time im going to one so im excited

I love going to anime conventions, oh my gawd! <3
I'm actually a part of an Cosplay studio called "Cookie dough studios" We do professional Cosplay, trying to make it as realistic as we can to materials and acting skills. ^^

Honestly, I buy cute keychains, figurines, pillows, I cannot get enough of the cutesy stuff!~ <3 I also go for contests however, and of course I love to please my small fanbase by greeting fans that will recognize me and giving them pictures. ^^ it's awesome to be called out by your Cosplay ID in public~ eep! not only that, but you can meet great cosplayers there as well, do collaborations, videos, you name it! it's a fantastic experience. <3 but I also love when they have free dancing or raves at the end of the night~

I went to awesomecon a few years ago

i was like really shy and i just nervous whenever taking pictures with someone.

Tbh, I actually cannot stand anime, however I've gone to over 20 conventions in my life.
And I will continue to go.

Why? I love the community, even if I do not indulge in anime.
Everyone that I've met is so friendly, funny and it's such a laid-back experience.

I also love the items you cannot get anywhere else unless online.
And even then, I'd rather spend money on people in front of me, know THEY made w/e it is that I am buying.
I also cosplay game characters. I piece together my own costumes, although I haven't done a full cosplay in months.

My latest cosplay was Annie from League of Legends. :)

I've only ever been to ConnectiCon 2007. I was seventeen, cosplayed as Riku from Kingdom Hearts - in his Organization coat and blindfold, or whatever that was about. I forgot my binder one of the days I went (full weekend pass) and I remember being mortified, but a ton of people talked to me and it was actually nice rather than nerve-wracking, though trying to see through the blindfold gave me the mother of all migraines. My partner (then just my bff, go figure) went as Demyx and a group of girls saw us heading up the escalator, shouted to us and squealed when we waved to them. It was such a weirdly flattering moment; I kinda wanna get another cosplay together just thinking about it, but I always think that until I remember what an expensive hobby it is...

I want to, however they NEVER have them in my town!

omg yessss. those are really good reasons and probably why i still go. everyone is so fun and the exclusive stuff ahhhh

I've attended Katsucon twice now, thinking about maybe Otakon some day but probably not while they're in the ultracramped convention center they're at now. Personally I don't really care terribly much about the panels, it's just neat seeing and interacting with loads of people generally into the same things you are and maybe dressing up just to have fun for a while. Plus I always attend with friends, so it's going to be a ball no matter what.

I got o so many. I sell at them so. They are literally one of the most fun things in the world to me.

I've been to the last three Manifests (Melbourne Anime Festival) before they stopped, and new groups have tried to replace them without much success in my opinion. I used to only go to buy art from local illustrators.
My friends would like me to sing for anime idol, but I'm socially awkward and wouldn't know what to do on a stage.

I guess, I can still see friends there but with tickets being $30, no real food vendors (the maid cafe had a long waiting line and it took 45 minutes to wait for a meal) ... so that was meh.

I miss Manifest a lot, but some idiots had to screw it up by setting off a smoke bomb which caused panic and got the fire brigade involved :/

Yes- I go to an anime and gaming convention that shows up here anually. Normaly, I like to cosplay as Pokemon, so I'll probably remake my Pyroar fursuit so that the seams don't actually tear...

I also love to buy merch there. There was a pair of Okami-themed shoes I wanted last year, but I didn't have enough money.
