I don't think they're in this game, and since there have been no reports whatsoever anywhere on the internet of their existance, I doubt they're going to show up. I think I remember reading somewhere on gamefaqs that they aren't in it.

That's an overstatement. The guide is fine besides a few bumps here and there.

this was one of my favorite parts of AC and made it worth it and rewarding to interact with animals regularly.
