Animal Friendships Beyond Your Town

So taking inspiration from Pocket Camp I was wondering if you guys would be on board with the idea of maintaining friendships with animals who don't actually live in your town. Like, if all of the villagers were somehow available to you to be able to be befriended all of the time, maybe appearing in locations outside of town like City Folk but actually retaining your interactions and acting similarly to how they would if they lived in your town. It might be a lot to think about all at once which is why I would be equally okay with it not happening, but it might be neat to be able to at least befriend your favourite animals without having to force them into your town first.

I don't think I'd be interested in this if it was like just your town, but if it was my friends towns where I would visit often and see the same villagers all the time I'd like it. I'd also like if you befriended your friends animal, and then they moved into your town, they would retain high friendship with their original player and be REALLY happy to see them if they had gotten to like pic status happiness. They might act a little disgusted if original player never talked to them lol.

I'd like that.

I'd definitely like some way to keep in touch with animals who have moved! I've wanted that for awhile now

I would like to still be able to talk to and stay in touch with some animals that you actually know from your own town or someone else's town but i'm not sure how I would feel if it worked that way for all animals, even if you haven't met them. For me, I would prefer to just build friendships with the animals you are associated with, rather than everyone! It works well in Pocket Camp definitely, but I probably wouldn't be too fond of the same thing being in AC Switch. Maybe something similar would be nice though!

yeah! I liked the feature in new leaf where villagers that moved out of your town would come to shop on main street. It'd be cool if you could keep in touch with them via letters (animal penpals!) It would also be neat if random animals that don't live in your town could come to visit, it'd make things feel a lot more lively and your town a lot less secluded. Maybe certain pwps could attract different villagers, and if they visited enough times/you befriended them enough, you could ask them to move in (less like the new leaf campsite and more like the mechanic in pocket camp I guess)

that's a really cute idea, i loved meeting vilalgers in the city in city folk and it would have been really cute to be remembered by them. i'd totally want something like that in ac switch but my only question is how it'd work with villagers from other towns you already have in your town. like, if both you and your friend have bluebear, should bluebear in your friend's town not remember you at all?

With work, it's hard to keep up with my current 10 villagers.

If we're talking about all 300+ animals having a potential history with you, that would be too challenging on the memory.

Since some previous villagers are stored in memory in the first place, though, I'd like it if they sent letters or took trips back for a day ala the campsite. That would also accomplish the effect of the world feeling larger, but more personally. : )
