A little while back I posted a thread in regards to a problem I was having with my game not working. Just to briefly summarise, my game would always freeze and restart just before the title screen and nothing I tried (and I tried everything I could find) helped. Earlier today I was finally able to try my last resort by testing it on my friend's 3DS and unfortunately my final hope was crushed with the same result as with my 3DS.

The dilemma I now face is should I .........sigh, restart my game clearing my beautiful Cooroy in the hopes that by wiping it any corrupt data will also be removed or should I just leave as is without the risk of deleting all my hard work on a method that might not fix the problem. At the moment I just cannot decide and I would love to hear your opinions in regards to this or what you would do if this was happening to you.

[sub]it sounds like your save file has been corrupted, although i can't say for sure.

if you've backed up your save file before (whether or not the means are... erm, illegitimate), then you can load it back up, but if you haven't, then i'm sorry but you have to start a new game. :^(

but you should probably wait until someone more knowledgable than i replies before actually restarting your game.[/sub]

I don't have any experience with this, but I understand Nintendo has some wonderful customer service reps. Or used to. Have you tried calling them and seeing if they could save your file somehow? I'm sure they would love to print an article in their internal newsletter about how they helped a client save their beloved town. Just an idea if you haven't tried that already.

What a sad situation ! :( Like you were supposing, it seems your save files are corrupted, so, if you restart your town, you should solve the problem. I can understand you, it's difficult, but probably it is the only possible solution. I hope you will find a way to save your town ! Good luck !

Unfortunately I had come to the same conclusion and I hadn't made a backup, but now that you mention it it still might be worth doing one so that if I do a reset and it doesn't work I still have a copy somewhere.

I will admit I hadn't contacted them, I had seen some posts for problems with the downloaded version of the game that seemed similar to mine and they say that Nintendo couldn't help them, but I still might give them a call, it's worth a try at the very least.

As I said in your last thread, even if you'll lose hours of work and memories, at least your game won't be useless... You should reset. :(

If it is a cart version, you can repurchase a digital copy and convert your cartridge save across. That's how I saved Bevelle when the cart wouldn't even load up. Good luck.

Thanks guys, I'm glad that you seem to agree that resetting is probably the best idea, it does make it easier. I'll probably get around to making a backup tomorrow and will probably post something if it all works out.

Unfortunately, the files been corrupted. I believe you can move the villagers etc., if you press move in on your new copy. Sorry about your town. :(

I pray that the backup copy you created works. Sorry about your town :( I hope you can one day recreate it if it doesn't work!
